Re: SavyNeal (ft. Rusko) - My Addiction
You shouldn't really be worrying about mastering at all. The main point is getting the mix right. The purpose of mastering as such, is to process the track in a manner that makes it sound best on a certain chosen medium (the master). Be in vinyl, CD, MP3, whatnot.

Re: Do you like Basshunter? (Remix of The Basshunter Song)
I very well understand that it's a WIP, but the sound quality is horrible. Thus the reference of as if it was downloaded off Youtube, also never claiming you had actually done so.

Re: Do you like Basshunter? (Remix of The Basshunter Song)
To answer your question: No.
Also I don't know how to put this, but EQing probably won't be able to help you there. It's sounds like a 64kbps MP3 downloaded off Youtube and driven through a high pass filter.
That's only my opinion, but Basshunter's tracks lack any considerable sound quality to ...

Generic or not, but this has to be one of the driest mixes I've heard in a long time.
Give the instruments some room, let the mix breathe. Right now it sounds like you've put it in a box and stuffed that into an even smaller box. There's a three dimensions' worth of space to fill, you're using only ...

Deliberately boycotted this thread because of the title, but then saw the amount of replies and came to read the witty remarks.
The mix is rather weak. Percussion is washed out by the melodics and it lacks a decent amount of sub bass to balance the overpowering highs, especially the vocals. The ...

Re: XMPL - Mayhem in the Castle (Melostep/Dubstep)
Intro makes more sense now, I suppose. 0:21-0:35 is still good.
Half-tempo the transition at 0:41, should get a lot better.
The drop is still way too overboard... The synths clash like hell. Try moving the wobbles a few octaves lower or get rid of them altogether. It's just a complete mess as it ...

Re: DJ Nesh - Enemy of the Enemy (Purple-ish Commerical)
Not necessarily, but could be.
If there's a lot of compression on the other elements, it could kick things out of balance. Flangers/phasers can do the same and close up the sound in the process.
It also depends on the DAW. Basically if you can get satisfying results without using compression, go ...

Re: My first tune"Dance of the weird Circles"by SkoOl
If it's originally bad-quality, no amount of EQing will make it good-quality. You can fix them to an extent or merge them together to something more formidable, but in the long run, it doesn't get you very far.

Definitely EQ that screamer better, it's way too overpowering. Also move that other high-mid growl (dominantly after 1:19) an octave or two lower. Could do wonders with the overall atmosphere.
Keep at it!

Re: Xphixiate - Wings Of Death (Dubstep)
The kick needs a LOT more weight. Uncertain about the part at 1:26. It doesn't do well playing solo. Nor does the arp in the break.
Got some great ideas there, just needs a better mixdown and some more consistency in the overall flow. Keep at it!

Re: Greg Longman - Enter The Night (Kill The Noise style)
The beat is incredibly weak...
Bring the kick and snare up a bit, EQ the higs and high-mids better so they don't drown everything.... The ideas are great, but the mixing needs a lot more work.

Could use something on the more low-mid frequencies. The mix sounds really flat as it is now.
Needs more weight overall.

Really nice soundscape and atmosphere there. Would give the kick just a bit more space, maybe. But big tune nevertheless. Keep it up!

Re: Airfee - Taran (Distance influenced)
Really solid tune, man. Could try and give the sub a bit more frequency range or turn it up a bit. Would balance out the mostly dominant hi-mids and highs.
Followed on the 'cloud. Keep it up!
