Re: just ordered an akai mini
Yes you can control stuff using the knobs. I use Ableton so I'm not sure how you map the midi control in FL but it's definitely possible. My only problem with it was that it didn't map properly with Ableton, so I have to manually map my knobs/pads to functions. It's a good first keyboard though, and...

Re: Kill The Noise - Talk To Me Bass
It's very possible he created a harmonically rich bass, placed a vocoder on the channel and then routed this so that the 'talk to me' phrase operated as a modulator. This would bring some of those vocal characteristics into the bass.

Re: Ohmicide
You probably need to adjust the 'trim' knob on the top left side. It should be set so that that one of the red dots is constantly lit and the middle one flashes. If all 3 are lit up then the input is too high and your distortion will sound messy.

Re: noisia bassline attempt (feedback please) :D
So, how do I process and bring out the "elements of sound"? use an EQ to find the best parts of the frequency and give them a little gain. And vice versa, bit's that sound muddy, hollow, ringy etc, basically any unpleasant sound that you don't want (or maybe do want :D), use subtractive E...

Re: Having some major inspiration issues!
yeah listening to other stuff is best for inspiration. not just electronic stuff either, a bunch of different genres. Even stuff which seems a million miles away like Blues, it's melody is based upon call and response lines which might just give you an idea for a lead. Funnily enough I sometimes get...

Re: Quick Sub Bass Question
Yeah i find that my sub can get a little messy after using distortion plugins and resampling. I tend to just bounce it with the sub until I'm happy with the sound then, if need be, I'll cut from about 60hz and insert a pure sine instead. Just to make sure that my sub is as clean and pumping as it ca...

Re: What Synths does everyone use for their intros!
Sylenth. I particulary like the more melodic, arpeggiated intro's (dare I say even trancey) before being hit with the filth. Sylenth is brilliant for this. Depends what you're after though. If you want a more atmospheric intro something like Absynth is a good shout.

Re: "Harder" drops?
Try mixing the intro/build up at a slightly lower volume (a couple of db should do). Then when it drops you have some extra headroom to make your sound louder and add extra impact.
