Ok, the best way of doing this is playing notes in a 1/12 pattern. And, guess what? the secret to the sharpness is GUNSHOTS! it's called a machine gun bass for a reason! take gunshot sounds, distort then if you need, and line them up to the notes of your bass. it's easy and is still heavy! Don't do anything as concrete. Don't go for a certain sound and apply X amount of effects to sound after sound thinking it "sounds better."

Fucking listen. A/B. Simple as that. Sound better? good. Sound worse? scrap it.
After that the problem lays in ear fatigue for me.

Not really seeing how bit crushing achieves that one noise used only a handful of times through the tune.
