Naaaaaah... where you are on the waveform (above the line, below the line) is the position of the speaker at a certain time. If the waveform is increasing, it's pushing. If it's decreasing, it's pulling.Hollotronic wrote:The part of the waveform that is above the line is pushing, and the part below is pulling.

Re: how did you learn the keys/theory?
learn an instrument. guitar is probably the easiest to teach to yourself. once you can play a bit the theory you're reading will start to make sense.
DON'T JUST READ, you won't learn anything. or, maybe you will, but it will take a lot longer and it will be a lot less fun.

you could mix the saw lfo waveform just a little bit with another that changes continuously in order to smooth it out a little? just enough so that crackle goes away.

i'm curious to know: what's your approximate ratio of finished to unfinished projects? i probably end up ditching around five tunes for every one that i complete. i always wonder how the pros get on in that respect.

don't forget to add reverb and compress (a lot) to bring up the tail in between notes.

Re: Reaper users - how are you doing your drums?
For a long time now I've been using Poise and sequencing my drums via midi.. I can't hp/lp on each layer of a drum pad though, which I need to do.
have you tried linking pads instead of layering? it's not a perfect solution, but that way you can use different filters on different samples while ...

Re: Formant/Vowel Frequencies in FL
Is there a site with good pictures or diagrams or something
showing which freqs to boost when trying to create a vowel?
and have it for all of them?
here's some info from my bookmarks that might be helpful:

Re: Can't understand bussing
see i've never found a reason to use a fx track in cubase since a group track does all that a fx track can do and more
but yes the group track is like a buss
what if you want to put the same reverb on (say) some hi hats, a pad and a vocal line? doesn't seem like it would make a lot of sense to ...

Re: Can't understand bussing
cubase makes things overly confusing in my opinion. yes, a group track is pretty much the same thing. for example, if you put all your drum tracks in a group and compress the group, that's the same as sending everything to a bus and compressing the bus. however, with a bus i believe you can also mix ...

that excision drop is pretty fucking amazing. just found he posted on the forum (a looong time ago) with some good advice:
I've never used a preset for a bass sound EVER, sure they are great for learning a synth and deconstructing samples to figure out whats going on. But start from scratch, force ...

Re: Artificial Intelligence that makes dubstep
wow this is all very interesting. i've tried a bit of this before in python but didn't get very far, although i was doing synthesis mostly rather than arranging (which is a lot more fun in pure data/max msp).
if you are planning on trying sound synthesis, have a look at synth secrets . for example ...

where did you get the samples? unless they're straight recordings they've probably already been compressed. not that you have to compress everything, depends what kind of tune it is really.

man, this sounds awesome. working on something now which might work, i'll definitely send you a link when it's done.
funny, i was talking to my djent friends recently about combining (bro/dub)step and metal. in theory it could work but there's always the danger of winding up sounding like korn ...

Re: Removing Leftover snare in the back of a DIY Acapella
if it's a sampled snare, maybe you could get a hit without any vocals over it, inverse the phase and add it back in to cancel out the original? would that work?
