Re: Problems making "brostep".

I have been very inactive haven't I :P Anyways, just to fill you guys in I have been working on live stuff. Also playing more metal. I have taken all your advice though and I will use it very soon when I get back into making electronic music. I think my problem was working without inspiration, hopef...

Re: Cracked software = cracked sound

I just wanted to add on to what Huts said. I got into music by playing recorder in elementary school. I was making my own melodies since then. My school also had xylophones so i got to play around on thoose. I literally started "producing" music for 15 dollars. In grade six I bought Sony A...

Re: mics for home recording

A buddy of mine uses a sm58. It is pretty nice. Sm57s are amazing though, my music teacher at school owns 3 of them along with a sm55 :P

Re: mics for home recording

Honestly, just stop by your local music store that has a pro audio section. You are bound to find someone that can help you out. I recommend buying used though, new recorders are very expensive.

Re: Is all dubstep in a minor key?

You can also be in harmonic minor keys or even diminished keys to get the "sad" feel. You can even use a major key and use a phrygian mode. Most funky dubstep would use the mixoloydian scale and the major scale. I am pretty sure Flux Pavilion uses the major scale in his songs by the way.

Re: Dungeon style bass lines - help

A general thing is slow attack and reverb. Reverb or even delay can do wonders to your bass. But the slow attack in my opinion is pretty important for most dungeon bass sounds.

Re: HELP FOR A FRUITY LOOPS NOOB!!!! simple question.

You can always do what I do. I have project files for sounds. I have one called robots, one called drums, one called random percussion and one called deep sounds. I just open up whatever vst and then set it to a mixer track. Then I apply effects. When you save the project all the work will be saved.

Re: Problems making "brostep".

Guys, please don't fight. I know becoming angry is very easy but try to not let it show through your reply. Anyways thank you so much to everyone who replied. @mtl6 Thanks for the info. I think my real problem is trying to make the bass melody complex. I will stick to catchy but simple melodies unti...

I expected a bunch of trolling. I am so happy that is not what happened! Thank you for your opinions! @ehbrums1 I know what you mean, I hate that over the top siren noises, they piss me off. I am also really digging Koan Sound, I was since the first time I heard them last year. I guess people do lik...

Problems making "brostep".

I have been away from the forum for awhile and at the same time I have been away from making what is now coined brostep. I can literally only make laid back tracks. The harder I try to get the harder it fails. I just need the help of all the nice people on this forum. How exactly do I break the &quo...

Re: LFO Filter Without Massacering My Synth Sound?!

You can always layer the sample and the sample after it has been oscillated (is that even a word). I have done it before, sounds pretty nice actually.

Re: Can you play the guitar?

I honestly want to help but my guitar playing is usually more on the melodic side. I have a lot of trouble sounding "hard". My style of guitar playing is similar to what you would hear in a "Lamb of God" song. Obviously it is not as complex, but it is similar. If you are interest...

Re: How do You make things sound "far away"

I don't want to seem like an ass, but lower volume? I know a lot of reverb can give that effect as well.
