For starting out in foley I would recommend getting the Tascam DR-07 feild recorder. Its pretty decent.

Well if you have proper monitors it should sound the same as it does to me. Thats the purpose of monitors. And my levels are fine I know my shit about audio engineering, like i said the problem didn't occur until I listened to it on soundcloud.
