I think it´s really just a matter of learning how your headphones or speakers sound.

I think the sweeping technique is your best shot Neonmansion. Would assume there is different bad frequencies for each different sample you use.

Drag the curve in Massive´s LFO a bit to the right and mess around with LFO rates without sync. I`m sure there are other ways also, but this works.

Xilent has some amazing drum sounds!!
