Re: 3:15 am rant: the joys of not making music

Your pretty vague about your reasons, tossing words like ignorant, ethical and moral conscience makes me think more along the lines of drugs rather than stealing samples...I could absolutely be wrong here as I did consume a six pack this evening. Maybe I have commitment issues, or maybe I just got ...

Re: 3:15 am rant: the joys of not making music

Herospook? Explain? Ninjadog, basically I realised I was doing music for the 'wrong' reasons: fame, validation, attention, ego boost etc. If one has a big enough moral conscience and wants a more meaningful and ethical life in terms of what they do and how they interact with people affects the world...

Re: 3:15 am rant: the joys of not making music

So I basically have followed through with the original post and I am officially quitting (at least from my house - if people invite me to theirs then I'll showcase the great things I've made on the piano and help create the best harmonies for any melody). It's been brilliant following this forum for...

Re: what do you do when u can't be arsed to produce

The cycle is as follows:- 1. Do something else (tv / computer games) 2. Get bored and realise I'm not having fun 3. Start to get paranoid that I'm not progressing as much as I want to in the studio. 4. Run back to the studio as quick as I can cursing myself for my procrastination. 5. Repeat :6: Thi...

Re: How do people collab over the Internet?

Woah, thank you so much. I really mean it. I'm so harsh on myself that I never know how I'm doing. I just find it so hard to get a big, clean sound. I have all the great ideas, but I'mm finding producing isn't coming naturally to me - it's too technical. I find it so much easier to write everything ...

Re: How do people collab over the Internet?

Thank you very much! That really means a lot at a significant time as I'm thinking my work isn't good enough and am thinking of giving up (hence why I'm looking to collaborate with someone)!

Glad there is another Jeeves & Wooster lover in the house!

Re: How do people collab over the Internet?

I'm up for collaborating with someone online if they are? I don't take 6 months to reply (as I know how annoying that is), I've got quite a bit of technical know-how and really up for making something different. I live in East London if anyone lives nearby. I don't smoke, drink or anything else whic...

Re: Error post

Thanks for your reply. I thought I hid my woes but you got to it before I could! Interesting about the odds being better than the lottery.

Thank you again for your motivation. I am going to work on utilising the piano more and producing second. It's the only way that I enjoy making music!

Re: iKaossilator plugin equivalent

Thanks. I'll look at this now too.

You mean an X+Y controller like Touch OSC?

Good idea about saving a channel strip. I might start making a load

Re: iKaossilator plugin equivalent

Thanks, I'll check it out now. Also, I've just tried Guitar Rig's FX for the first time since getting Komplete and they have some great gates and filters which aren't too overcomplex (like FabFilter's Volcano)

iKaossilator plugin equivalent

I just downloaded it for the iPad and iPhone and my god it's a brilliant app. Instant inspiration! And the thing, so easily it makes sounds that I could spend hours trying to make - like automating filters and getting notes to slide across a scale. So I was wondering, are there any creative AU plugi...

here's a screen shot of a bit of my sample library organisation: http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/9016/screenshot20120503at084.png Make sure to untick every sample (select all and then untick) as it stops iTunes automatically playing the next one. And don't forget to put your actual music into pla...

Re: Setting up my rig so I can stand while producing

For one standing all day makes my feet hurt really bad, even with a special mat. I have a high bar stool if I need to take breaks but then I just end up sitting on the computer and it's not very comfortable. Also consider, even with monitors at the perfect height, tweets ear level, if you move even...
