Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Made a reese-ish sound today. Just fucking around with a shitty melody and some drums, but here's a riff:
Soundcloud
Did some frequency splitting, and the second 8-bar phrase is with some EQ modulation on the mid band. Not sure which one sounds better.

Great stuff, loving that analogue aphex twin-ish sound. Weirdest groove I've heard in a while, you should be proud of yourself

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
^ God damn that is a gnarly ass sound. It's not a reese though, but if you processed this a bit further (make it more spacey, throw a bunch of reverb on it) It could sound cool as a sort of "background fill" if that makes any sense

Fresh sounds, & quite a creative tune. I like the random arrangements but I have a feeling it wouldn't go very well on the dancefloor, however I'm a sucker for weird shit so I'll def give it a thumbs up

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Thanks for the pointers. Did some tweaking & frequency splitting, squeezed out as much crunch as I could from the mids. I think I'm getting somewhere with this

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Ya would love to know how you went about filtering it. I use abletons auto filter, and creating movement with notches always seems to take away too much of the sound. Could be why my reese is lacking "crunch"

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Been tinkering with this reese for a couple hours now, pretty happy with the results. Thoughts? :)

Really liking this, has a mellow melodic vibe to it. Nice organic sounding percussion, with just enough variety throughout the track. Well done!

Re: EightySeven - Contact High [Dubstep/Reese]
Naysayers will naysay, I fucking dig this tune. Can totally get what you're going for! Only thing I would change is have a much "stompier" kick, the kick you're using doesn't roll with the beat quite as good as it should do for this type of track. But that's only a matter of finding a more optimal ...

Fowles: ty for the feedback, spot on. I really like your reeses too, crisp production on them :D
thanks dude. what synth are you using? they remind me koan's reeses in introvert.
I'm using NI Massive, and here's how it sounds in MIDI:

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Been wanting to have a go at making a reese for a while now and decided that a evolving, wet sounding reese would fit good to my track. Made a sound in massive and resampled a little, this is what came out of it.
Thoughts?

Not so much the sound itself as it is the way he arranges the clip/midi notes.

Re: Can you produce when others are listening/watching?
Depends on my mood. I produce with headphones so I rarely have that problem.
However one time I was sitting in my room with my buddy watching some adventure time and whatnot, and all of a sudden I heard something I REALLY wanted to sample, so I excused myself, opened up Ableton and started doing my ...

Re: Leave Blank- Fear itself
Feels somewhat too minimalistic for my taste...I like the drums though, and the second drop is lovely. Just get the feeling that there's a hundred more things you could have done with the tune, y'know?
