I have a budget pair of $50 Audio Technicas. Great headphones, I would think the more expensive ones are even better. So honestly I would go with Audio Technica.

You become a pro when producing becomes your profession.
You are so unbelievably smart. Eye-roll well placed. So much intelligence with that statement, especially since it answers the thread title.

Re: 133 bpm for dubstep?
With dubstep sometimes I experiment with slower bpms like 130 - 135. I'm pretty sure Noisia slows down their dubstep too.

I kinda just found the sweet spot with the phase. The dimension expanders size is all the way down and I also found that if osc 3 is on deep throat it sounds better.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
I thought I might share this with you guys. It's a preview of my latest track, remember it's just a preview I have a newer version I haven't posted. The drop is made up of some growls and some reese basses. The growl is just 3 saw wave oscs in massive filtered by a lowpass and a double notch filter ...

Re: sidechaining the snare
Yeah 6 layers is quite a bit. I usually don't layer that much, and my snares are still punchy. You're problem might be that. Just try to a get a good, full, source sample then compress it to hell and back (ok maybe not that much.) and you will be good.

Re: sidechaining the snare
I agree with ehbrums, check the mix and EQ to make sure no frequencies are clashing. If you are on Fl you can sidechain the EQ around where the snare is hitting and that might help. Sometimes sidechain can sound good, while other times it can sound really bad. That might help a little. I've also ...

Re: wot is the best music software and why
The quality does not come from the DAW, it comes from years of experience, EQ, compression, limiting, mixing, sound design, and last but not least mastering. Work on all those things and you'l be one step closer to your goal. If you work well with FL then use it. No DAW will help you make quality ...

Don't listen to the dudes laughing at you. Just do what you love to do. Practice makes perfect. All you really need to do is make good music and then people will like it.

I think he's a badass producer, but he samples from Skrillex a stupid amount. And I'm sure Centipede inspired him to make Deadweight.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
before you do any EQ automating, try to have the growl have a pretty even spectrum, except with higher 1-3khz content and maybe some 100-300 hz phatness. i usually cut at 500-1000hz. sounds good.
THEN, once you have enough harmonic content, use an EQ and automate from 50~100 to 600-1000hz with a ...
