Re: Is all dubstep in a minor key?
Eh, I don't know about major ALWAYS sounding sad, but if you use the 7th a lot as the root for a chord in a progression I can definitely vouch for the possibility of a major scale effecting sadness. Unless you're Gmaj is emphasizing it's relationship with Emin... lol but then, we are getting into ...

Re: Is all dubstep in a minor key?
why not throw some key changes in there? =)
I can just imagine it. 2nd drop starts to fade to an outro then BOOM modulates up a major second and repeats, cheesy pop style :cornlol:
lmao, now I see why there are corn emoticons.
I was thinking more along the lines of bad-ass Animals as Leaders ...

I started this a few months ago and I just kind of got stuck.
I'm not sure if I want to do a dubstep chorus with vocals after the electro drop or keep it full-time/dance beat style.
I just know I want it to actually have a chorus after the drop ...

Re: Making leads thicker using effects or specific vst?
p.s. I don't quite get what you were asking with the 32hz - In any case I would say anything that low is negligible on most speaker systems and I would put a high-pass on it.
You know like your sub is supposed to hit around 50hz on the freq spectrum? Just so most systems can play it and it sounds ...

Re: Is all dubstep in a minor key?
I also say it doesn't matter. Every scale has notes in all of the basic relative modes. Simplistically; Em = Gmaj, Am = Cmaj, etc. and all the other basic modes are found starting on any note other than the root of the minor (or other) scale and following the same notes of the original scale up an ...

Re: Making leads thicker using effects or specific vst?
Many synths offer "unison" functions. This effects virtually what running multiple instances of a synth would cause but outputting through the one channel.
Generally I find 6-8 "instances" adequate with some stereo width and compression. I don't recommend chorus to make things beefier because it ...

Re: Problems making "brostep".
I find that EQ and compression are some of the greatest tools for producing a sound. It can be used throughout the entire song process (production, in sound design; mixing, to get a good balance between your elements and; mastering, to emphasize the rhythm, handle any frequency problems and bring ...
