That actually works well the other way around - we all know how formant filters can take away a lot of the low end - so play high notes with formant filtering on then slow it down. Makes really nice growls.

that would probably be phasing. i'm not familiar with fl but it may be lowering the volume automatically due to clipping, i know that renoise can do that

would love to see what you have going on there, it doesn't even sound like fm well fm is really versatile so it can sound a wide range. and i'm obsessed which the sound of the scarymonsters bass sound and i think that it sounds harmonically alot like that one which was made with fm. but like i said...

I remember hearing that Amon Tobin changed his voice to female for some of the tracks on ISAM - but he used some crazy Kyma spectral processing that is out of all of our budgets

when you turn a knob when there's already automation for it, live switches over to the session view because it differs from the arranged automation. click the red button with the lines + arrow (next to the play button) and it will reset it to the automation and allow editing again.

its actually just fm, no stretching. the bend modes are very useful for growls though. another good way to get nice growls is to use the sine shaper.. or even better use foldback distortion if you can find a plugin that does that, it sounds similar to fm. tbh there are other simple ways to make gro...
