Re: should i buy reason 6
As of the (recently released) Reason 6.5, Reason now supports "Rack Extensions"—which are (more or less) VSTs/VSTis made just for Reason. In other words, OTHER companies write the algorithms, etc. running the Extension Rack devices. As of right now, they all seem to be reasonably priced, a...

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Guess I'm a bit tardy introducing myself. I'm Brian, in a suburb outside of San Diego. I got into dubstep through the UKF compilations, etc. that Amazon kept suggesting for me. Random, I know. Anyway, I like that stuff, and have been recently learning about/getting into Skream. I've been into EDM pr...

If you have musician friends, etc. hit them up for demo versions of DAWs that they don't need/use. Having a copy/license of the demo version often gives you a discount on the full version.

Re: Editing an mp3 without re-encoding it?
My significant other used to works as a signal processing engineer. I asked him about it—yes, it's technically possible, if you can find a program that lets you edit raw mp3 files on a "per frame" basis. He's never seen software that can do that, though. You might have to program it yourse...

Re: Sausage Fattener!
Check yourself Oh please. Would it be ridiculous for me to criticize your song-writing abilities, your ability to mix, or your ability to make a consistent sounding tune in general? Yup, I'm still learning all that, and would have no place to talk. But even a rank newbie can have an opinion on a si...

Re: Sausage Fattener!
Camelcrusher is a great compressor. I mean that mixed with the Bootsy saturators would be a better choice and offer more programming ability. Plus free. I love the little Sausage-man that fattens and gets obscenely excited as you use the plug-in. It was worth $30 just for that; no regrets. Still, t...

"Better" is a matter of opinion, and opinions are hard to argue one way or another. Since Scream is only w/in Reason, not everyone can use it. Or maybe you're just sour grapes because the fattener is a VST plugin?ehbrums1 wrote:scream 4's tape is better

Re: Sausage Fattener!
It's really good if something is both too faint and too bland. It's also good to hook an LFO up to, if you need a quick-n-dirty wubber. As others mentioned, I wouldn't up the gain booster too much; it's quite easy to mangle your sound with this plugin...

Re: Four - Sewage Canal (Deep/Chill)
I like the buildup, tho you might add something to it. Drop is nice, the sub is OK/good. Distinct. It does dominate a bit... I dunno, polish the tune a bit more and then have a proper Engineer master it. :) Second drop is nice, getting a bit repetitive tho. Maybe that's par for the genre I guess? I ...

Re: TRON SEPIA - FLANGE [EPIC!!!!!]
Enjoyed the first drop. My sub is still aching. The breakdown at about 2:05 was great. I like how you switch things up in the middle. The extended outro must have been difficult w/ all the layers, but you pulled it off nicely.

Re: No Badge - Da Rap Game (feat BONEZ) (Grime)
I listened to the youtube version. The lyrics are good. The vocal gets swamped out too much though. You need to compensate for the breakdown, which completely overpowers the vocals. Nice, solid beats. Good chord progressions on the lower mood track. The drop at 1:54 was cool, tho maybe punch it up e...

Re: ni'en:bhed - schienen (FREE DL)(deep/abstract/meditative
Interesting intro. Really good separation of voices. Good buildup. Mmm tasty sub at the drop. By 1:25 I like where we're going. 1:40 is interesting... but where ARE we going now? Interesting breakdown. Second drop as tasty as the first. The new sound (stomp?) coming in at about 2:48 needs to be loud...

Re: Stranger - The Wicker Man (Minimal/Dungeon/Dark)
Erie intro... Vocal is suitably creepy. Mellow drop (which I guess is good in this genre). The middle breakdown was very brief and simple. I think you could afford to extend it. The violin (?) starting (?) at around 1:50 needs to be louder, it's good I'd like more of it. The bird caw effect sound is...

Re: Joakuim & Crank - Bubble Hash (Deep / Minimal)
I kinda liked the beginning, tho the DJ kept talking over it. The drop was fun, and the "shimmering" sub after it was big. Wow the sub comes through even in my earbuds... I agree with Zillion about adding a bit of variation. It's so nice in general, though. Very mellow... And I can testify...

Re: Sunworship (deep dubstep eastern flavour)
I agree that the first drop could have something added to give it a bit more punch. Could you goose the gain for a few beats? :P The Eastern vibe is fun, and I like the subtle effects you've applied to the vocals. Would like a deeper, richer sound out of the drumkit—it's kinda thin feeling by about ...

Re: Robot Overlord - Greed (Experimental/Industrial/120bpm)
Nice and rumbly and clangy at the intro. The buildup is kind of faint, tho... Where was the drop? Woah at like 1:06 you get nice and rude with the sub—fun :D The mids and highs all sound like they're underwater most of the song, which is fine for an intro/outro, or buildup, but keeping them like tha...

Re: Outbound - Never Learned (Vocal / Free Download)
Crisp intro, tho could use a bit more variation, maybe? The vocals came in nice. It's moving along nicely by 1:30. Breakdown after that is really good. It's a very clean composition; I think you could load it up with more sound, effects, etc. If you wanted to anyway. It's pretty dope as-is. At least...

Re: Daisy Chain - You're Next
I love the tension in the dirty build up. Nice drop. 1:20 is nice. Are you thinking of making it out into a full song? I think you could, with a second voice or something. You've def got the beginning going.

Re: Craggle-HSIPART1 (Trap/Grime/Purple)
Nice, fat, hollow tone at the bottom. Very relaxing in general. The different musical voices are very distinct (good EQ?). The mini-drop at about 1:50 was very nice, unexpected. Transition at 2:40 is nice. The only real criticism I could come up with is a suggestion... maybe you could play around wi...

Re: *New Track* Escentz - Illuminate (All feedback appreciat
Wow you get to the point quickly. :) The intro is really heavy. Nice and "clean" bottoms... You def. have masterful control over the wubbing. Love the breakdown @ 50. Ohh 1:15 or so is fun. Okay, abrupt ending... I assume you're going to extend the song? I think you could add a second voic...
