So I think my soundcard is broken

It's a presonus firestudio project I was working on a track as normal then suddenly there was a loud bang, loads of popping and a tonne of interference came in. When it's connected it's meant to have a blue light, and when it's not it's meant to alternate blue and red. My light is now purple... thou...

Re: Wolfgang Gartner "The Champ" sound?

the sort of detuned chord in Ableton. I haven't heard this song in any other song, and I searched numerous texts for it. Massive VST Sylenth1 FM8 I'm not sure if I can make it with my VSTs, if not, could you recommend something :D Thanks in advance, with those 3 synths you can make absolutely any s...

very refreshing to play a feedback dub and not just immediately want to slap the money shot thread in their face :D tight mixdown. i'm not good enough to be able to advise you any more on that. i think the only thing i can comment on is the bass design, the 2 things that came to mind were that the g...

Re: Sean Marbaugh - Freak Her (Electronic/Dubstep)

cymbals cutting through too harshly, definitely work on the mixdown. would like to see some more work on your bass design too. feel like it's too in your face for too long, what was said above about structure is true. have a little build down and then drop back in, else it can be tiring. good job th...

Re: Resonate - DjMikey feedback please :)

pretty sure i've heard your main bass in a ksd pack for massive. go do some homework and design your own sounds or you'll get slated here. 1. treat your drums in the intro, they're incredibly dry 2. your build up needs a lot of work, use some sweeps and gradually take out the lows - although there a...

Re: hello, we are M3TROPOLI5....feedback/criticisms apprecia

some good ideas but your production is lacking (as you said). some of your main synths aren't hitting hard because there's no depth to them, layer them with other waves that subtly add character to them. it shouldn't affect the sound you want but it will affect the product greatly. best advice i can...

Re: Kill The Noise - Talk To Me Bass

spend as much time with your synth as he probably has and maybe it'll come to you. a waaaaay deeper understanding is required than just knowing what wt he's used/what synth. these threads are everywhere, and i think everyone's looking for an easy solution, but there isn't one aside from practise and...

Re: Wolvesbane - Xenosfear (Dubstep)

less is more 90% of the time, the sound should start 'filthy' in your instrument, relying on effects is distorting the signal way too much. if your raw sound is good your final sound will be good.

additionally, when i hear something that puts my work to shame, that really, really blows me out of the water, it just makes me want to learn more. the fact that you can make evocative music using only a laptop blows my mind.

Re: Producing electronic music as a hobby-- explain this to

i used to get frustrated when my stuff didn't sound how i wanted it and give up. after producing on and off for a while, i started hearing my thoughts come to life. so now, it's fun routing a side chain, adding a return track...because it all contributes to the ultimate destination i have in mind. w...

badly put, it's a number that correlates to the speed but at first glance it's less intuitive than a fraction ie 1/16
