Help building a studio

Well after over 5 years of having my production setup in my bedroom, I have finally saved up to build a custom studio at my new pad. I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction to get information regarding the proper dimensions of a studio when producing electronic music, everyth...

Remix Stems

Whats up fam

Anyone know of a place besides beatport play to get remix stems? Ive been getting into making remixes lately, and I love the control you can get when you have the stems available. As always any guidance is much appreciated.

Cheers

Re: Pointless task or not?

I use to get caught up in the science but its not worth it. My best tracks have come from just kicking back, being in the mood, and making music. The frequencys can be adjusted later with solid mixing.

Re: Releasing my music

Thanks for the responses everyone @mthrfnk Im not as worried about the local labels Im more worried about some guy across the country/world who hears my tracks, downloads them, starts taking credit, and then I end up in some huge expensive court case over the rights. You could say Im a bit worried b...

Releasing my music

Whats up everyone, So my music is finally to a point where it is ready to be commercially released (after 5 years of hard work haha). I have had some contact from some local labels but I would like to get my music out there first and see what other options I might come across. Okay lets get to the p...

1)ill give you the answer everyone on the forum likes giving now days since it is so much fun to say "do whatever sounds good" now that we got that out of the way, I will give you the answer you are looking for: 2)have your mix peak at about -14 to give plenty of headroom for the mastering...

Massive and pitch

Okay I had an argument and some confusion with a friend last night and I was hoping someone could shine some light on this topic for us: Inside massive each of the 3 oscillators has a pitch option spanning from -64 all the way to +64 So if I scrolled my pitch up to 12 on osc1, that would be 12 semit...

Re: How important do you think it is to stay in key?

Depends on if you want to be successful or continue to make music in your moms basement. In all seriousness, if you want to make a major hit, start a good habit of always keeping your song in key. For a few years when I first started producing I never worried about key. However small changes like st...

Re: NI Komplete 9 release date? possible changes?

native instruments has been consistent in dropping the price of komplete just before they release a new version, in fact they did this for maschine before the mk2 was released and they generally do this with most of their products. there hasnt been any news recently or any rumors of an upgrade, but ...

Re: general mixdown levels

I know this isn't the answer you want...but all of this really depends...it's all so interconnected...I like that you are thinking in terms of mixing the kick that low. That's about where I mix my kick...between -12 to -14. Like in the example you give...just because the kick is at -14 there is no ...

Re: general mixdown levels

Bro, there isn't even a "generally speaking" You're thinking too hard about this. I disagree mate, there are certain elements in the mix "generally speaking" that should be louder then other parts. Now, given as I have already said you should trust your ears, I still like to hea...

general mixdown levels

Whats up everyone, I have done lots of research and seen some posts that briefly touch on this topic, but I would like to get a discussion going so I can get some input from everyone. Generally speaking, what db is each element in your mix sitting at? If you want to get specific on maybe a drum rack...
