Re: 3rdeye - the last time i saw you basses

bigs ups man, great to hear from actual artists that i respect and admire :Q: ... i have been struggling myself to get those harmonic-rich subs and have been messing about with layering a second sine, one octave up to try and achieve these results. still sounding like strange though

i was ...

getting a new computer

my macbook is really laggin out these days when im producing. CPU is constantly quite high and ive done everything i can to try and minimize it. The thing is almost 4 years old and im running some CPU hogs like alchemy and izotope stuff, so im not too surprised.

Ive been thinking about getting a ...

bouncing audio - am i loosing power low end power?

i have been building a library of one shots for a while now that i use in ableton's sampler to make my basses. i feel like a lot of the basses ive made lack that low end punch and ive been thinking maybe the way ive been processing them pre-bounce is the reason why. ive recently been very careful ...

Re: 3rdeye - the last time i saw you basses

the track is so minimal but he manages to really get the most out of every sound that he places. im mostly interested in his workflow i guess, the way in which he first synthesizes the sounds and then the way he modulates them, etc. Bigups for putting out quality tunes Area Recordings :Q:

favorite new track, great balance of melody and dark thick basses.

those first bass sounds that come in are so warm and soft, and just seem so damm clean. anyone have any tips on how to get these sorta basses? there is some great ...

resampling oneshots - am i doing this right?

so i've recently been making sounds i like in massive, bouncing them to audio, and then importing them into my sampler to have more fun/automation. some of the on-shots bass sounds i've made are very quiet and when i drag the wav file into my sampler, their super quiet and appear tiny.

my question ...

Re: synth width and the mix

i downloaded upstereo but when i try to open it in ableton is just quits the program... maybe ill just make a live rack that has samples delay's across the frequency range and that way i can just spread bands separately. maybe ill just load the standalone DE vst and throw that on the rack ...

synth width and the mix

so recently i kinda discovered that massive's dimension expander kinda messes up the mix when used too much. i realized that most my synths were taking over the mix and there its was hard as hell to dial them back while maintaining their power. my new way is to apply about 5% on both the dry wet so ...

Re: Au5 Bass

i was thinking the exact same thing last week and put a few hours into making Au5 inspired sounds. obviously uses massive, but i found that i was able to get pretty close to the metallically feel that he goes for by using the mod osc section, bandrejects, and the EQ section. the low mid section of ...

along these lines, i just wanted to know how you all deal with bouncing send fx to audio. since most sends have multipul channels being routed to them, its seems kinda tricky to keep everything clean and organized when bouncing...

Resampling reverbs along with bass

im in the process of resampling basses and im wondering if its a bad idea to resample the reverb that the track is being sent to directly into the same audio clip that the bass is in. i can see how this might be a bit limiting by commiting to the reverb and could make any additional processing kinda ...

Achieving loudness in the mix - what does this exactly mean?

im aware of what goes on during mastering, such as turning up the volume of a track. when producing, im constantly trying to make sure my track is peaking around -6bd but i hear alot of these professional producers talking about throwing light compression and limiting on the master to achieve more ...

multiband OTT to get distortion

i've heard lots of producers using multiband compression to squash the audio in order to distort it. this seems popular in lots of the "brostep" producers tracks and i think its responsible for a bit of the metallic trademark sound. i know when i toss a ableton multiband OTT preset of one of my ...

alchmey granular synthesis help

Hey guys, ive been really getting into using alchemy in the last month of so. i have been loading lots of samples into it and so forth, where i modulate and go nuts with the patches. i have tried using the granular setting on some of the sounds i import to the synth but i never get good results with ...

Getting synths to have more swing/groove

i use ableton so im aware of the groove functions and how to incorporate them into my tracks. i wanted to see if there was anyway to get my basses to have more swing/groove when using 3rd party plugins such as massive, etc. i feel like a lot of the LFO work i hear in recent songs have funky little ...
