Re: (Seriously) How would I go around making basses like dat

"I do not want to copy his sound, I want to know the advanced processing steps that come after the massive presets" Honestly, reading a basic sound design guide will get you there. There is no secret advanced processing pro tip that will get you further then you are now. "because I'm ...

Re: Noisia Future Music Video Coming Soon!

@ Sinfected: Check my contributions the reese bass thread, my friend. I know MUCH about the reese and resampling the shizzit out of it. My contention is that if you know what everyone is after, spill the beans. Bass wasn't even covered. I feel that if you share the love, you keep progression moving...

Re: Noisia Future Music Video Coming Soon!

anyone else get the feeling that they were making a mockery of the situation? I wouldn't put it past them and they only really discussed drums and processing. I didn't pick up anything new/tips/advice from the entire video. The ONLY thing I got from watching it was that they spend a shit ton of tim...

Re: modulating nuerobass?

Try modulating a bandpass and layer together different articulations.

Pitch can be really nice aswell.

Re: I can never get my sub bass right?

If you are using monitors it can be really hard to place a sub since you shouldnt really hear it at all. If you have any decent headphones, use them as a reference. What i've found is that as my mixes get better, the sub goes lower and lower, so I tend to mix it as I want it, then lower it abit by d...

Re: Free drum sample packs that aren't overly compressed

Acoustic drums usually arent very processed, and sometimes you get different velocity hits aswell.

Here is a decent list if you havnt checked it out already.

Re: Where to get good vocals? Also, use them in key?

I've never owned 4 so I cant really say, but I think its basicly the same. The filters seem to be the main point of the upgrade, but its not like you are using kontakt just for the filters. The tape saturation can be really nice on some stuff, but its definatly not worth the upgrade on its own...

oh i know how to drag audio in and play it. thats about all i know how to do in kontakt. it seems like learning a whole new daw practically :o once i come ot grips with it im sure ill love it though. You will, I promise. I felt the same way when I got it, but its really not as complicated as it loo...

Re: Where to get good vocals? Also, use them in key?

Not sure about a tutorial, dont think there are alot for kontakt, but its pretty simple. If you just drag any sound into kontakt and go to the mapping editor, you can just drag samples straight into that window and put it on whatever key/keys you'd like. Just make sure you turn off the key tracking ...

Re: Where to get good vocals? Also, use them in key?

now for the tempo thing. is it fully necessary to change the tempo of the vocals when chopping up bits and pieces like that? i know logic can change the tempo of anything without changing the pitch and it does it pretty fluently with no artifacts as long as its within a reasonable tempo. again, im ...

Re: Can't believe I'm asking this: Is Sytrus better than FM

Define "better". I'd call it different, offering another sonic palette. Can Sytrus make all of the sounds FM8 can? No. Can FM8 make all of the sounds Sytrus can? No. This. I use both om them and I feel like FM8 brings a better sound right out of the box, but I could see how some people fe...

Re: Where to get good vocals? Also, use them in key?

I mean i can tell if something sounds sort of in key with the note being played but definitely not spot on. My ears aren't trained well enough. I need to figure out someway to figure out the key of the vocals. But your kind of saying that not all vocals have to be in key. Like sometimes in Burial's...

Re: How can i make rises like Nerd Rage?

The sound appears alot through the song, to me it just sounds like pitch modulation and a wobbling resonant filter on a midrangey sound. I cant tell you how to make EXACTLY that but that would be kind of a bore since you can make any midrange sound turn into that kind of riser with pitch and filter ...

Re: Where to get good vocals? Also, use them in key?

1. Try to find something YOU like and can make fit, dont just disregard stuff cause they dont sound like burial. Finding good vocals is a real pain in the ass tho, and I would suggest finding someone who can sing and get your own recordings if you want quality stuff. But the main reason burials voca...

Shamelessly stolen from doa, and i'd change it to stop listening to ONLY bass music. You obviously produce dupstep cause you like it, and why should you stop listening to something you like?

Re: splitting frequencies 2 or 3 times?

Depends on the sound really. Ask yourself why you are splitting it in the first place. I find splitting it into sub > everything over like 150 or so usually do the job if youre just after beefing up the sound. if you're getting into chorus and flanging and that type of stuff, a low/mid/high might be...

Re: Is there a way to record sound from FL Studio while ASIO

The easiest way I can think of is to just record the screen with fraps or something similar, and recording the audio locally in FL studio with edison. Sync that video and audio in a video editor of your choice and its done.
