Since this is pretty much the official "Terror Squad bass" thread now, I might as well post my own attempt at it

Phatscout - Tascam (Depressing Boom Bap?)

http://soundcloud.com/phatscout/tascam-free-download

Well, this is probably one of the shortest songs I've completed tbh (literally made this in a day), yet its probably honestly one of my best, at least in my opinion.

Before you ask the chords were sampled from some YouTube video, so I honestly ...

Re: Anyone using Serato DJ yet?

For guys with MIDI controllers the previous program was Serato Itch

I don't even use Serato but at least from what other people have said Serato DJ doesn't work with a bunch of Soundcards/MIDI controllers that they said it would work with so everybody says to just stick with Scratch Live/Itch.

Re: Fixing a "tube-ish" Mix?

ITS SO LOUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

Its also has an awkward stereo field. I think where your problem is, is that all you've got is a really flat sounding pad and a kick drum but boosted the hell out of it so it just sounds plasticy now.

Ozone by any chance?

Yeah I just picked a random Ozone preset ...

They ain't gonna charge for SoundCloud dude.

Personally, I don't think this is the worst thing it the world tbh. I'd rather Twitter buy SoundCloud than Google lol. They'd prob force Google+ on everyone and all that shiz.

Mix using headphones during the day with AC on full blast. When it cools down at night, mix on the monitors.

That's how I do it...

Anyone remember blend.io?

It was like another "GitHub for Ableton" like website but I dunno what happened to it. It's still around and I had a beta account but I can't log into it, lol.

Phatscout - The Valley (Progressive House I guess)

Hey DSF

Tbh I'm not exactly sure what I just made, but even thought it's not half-time I'm still going to post it here anyways because I'd probably go over better with you guys compare to the brostep stuff I usually do

Re: vocal chops

Dude, just take the Vocal you want to chop up, split it up into different little parts in Ableton (Ctrl+E all day erryday) and pitch them up and down with the transpose thingamaboober.

Nothing too hard dude.

Re: Help - do you have these sample packs ?

Already answered this in another thread, but you can get all the sounds from all the VALVe games (HL, HL2, L4D, TF2, CS etc) by just going into the game folder in SteamApps/common now. You don't need to use GCFScape to extract them now.

Another tip for Quake 3 engine games (if somebody wanted to ...

Re: Half-Life 2 samples

Yeah, after the SteamPipe update you can just pull the files out of the game. If you still cant, how I did it was I used GCFScape http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26 to open the "half life 2 content.gcf" (or whatever it was called) and then extract the files.

To be honest like 60% of ...

Re: so how the **** has zomboy done it?

TBH as far as brostep goes, "classic brostep" (jesus christ that this is even a thing is stupid but I guess it is?) [think early Datsik, Excision, Doctor P] shows lots of influence from Jump-up DnB and that kinda shit.

After that we started seeing a Metal influence added in with like Skrillex and ...

Re: How Do You Lay Out Your Drum Pads?

I just drag drums from the browser (Ableton user here man) and lay them out (1 track per drum). I dunno why I don't use Impulse or a Rack or whatever, but it's just how I do it.

Re: What Monitors are you guys using

I'm using Infinity Reference 2000.2s. Realtalk I'm not even sure if these things are real monitors (there's like no info on these things on the internet) but, well at least for me they're accurate enough for most mixing. My headphones are Grado SR-60i's and while I personally think they sound sick ...

Re: Sorrow sub bass ... ?

Try using a saturator (I use Ableton's because it's based as hell IMO) and low pass everything below 200hz. This should give your subs more low-mid while still keeping the bass emphasis. Alternatively double your sub midi up an octave (if your using a separate instrument for sub) and highpass ...

Just sample a reggae chord and add a lot of reverb to it. Seems to be the best option to me in all honesty.

Re: Free Vocoder VST for Reeses?

i only like ableton vocoder, vocodex, fruity vocoder and TAL vocoder.
although i don't like using compressors i find compression/multiband compression helps a lot when using vocoders since the levels get a bit random + the sound loses impact.

Well way to necro brah, but yeah I guess this is true ...
