Re: I am Daniel VIP (Heavy crunchy Dubstep)

Maybe I'm too much of a brostep fanboy, but I think this could use some screams, or at least spikes - something on the high end.

Re: Trance and Dubstep...Thoughts?

What needs improvement is samples from the original . I'm guessing you used the original song, everything glued together? Other than that I like what you've done with it. The drums fit well, so do the occasional wobbles and glitches.

Re: Free downloads, please tell me how to get better!

I'd suggest focusing on one genre. That way you can spend more time on studying it's defining characteristics and get better fast. (For example, dubstep is all about punchy 2-step drums. Your snare is ok, but the kick is almost inaudible.) Try copying your favorite artists. When listening to ...

Although I'm not the biggest fan of this type of music, the high quality of the production is undeniable. :W:

Re: Mixdown and Sidechaining question

I always sidechain sounds that are in the same frequency range. I've noticed that when they are, they tend to get in each others way, so to speak. So I pick something with priority and sidechain everything else to it. For example: sub-bass to kick and snare, sub-bass to bass, noise to synth, noise ...

Re: AntiMatterAudio - Secrets [I'm a Newbie]

Well, the key to a hard drop, the way I see it, is contrast. Make the listener expect the drop, but pause right before the drop and hit it hard with a kick, crash (optional), sub-bass, bass or synth (scream), and maybe some noise sweep and reverbed snare.

Re: AntiMatterAudio - Secrets [I'm a Newbie]

First thing that I notice is that your vocals and those space sound effects are too loud. As for the track, if I were you, I'd try to make it more interesting, by having more progression, bigger buildups, harder drops, more subtle intro and outro, and maybe some sort of a central theme, right now I ...

Re: Filling up the mix (Harmony, Added Elements, Percussion)

I say add arpeggios, phrases, progression. And yes, add basic effects like delay and reverb with considerable amount of compression. Percussion is a good way to fill up void too, IMO. Rides and sometimes hats with minimal delay and maybe some panning. I have only started out in music production, but ...

Re: Heliosending - Quantum Leap Year (Original Mix) (Brostep

Hey SemTex. Thanks. That's actually a basic Saw II wave in Massive with no filters or inserts (only some ping-pong delay in Live). The spikes are 3 key chords, with the keys being hit in a very rapid succession. That's what's making it sound chiptuny, 'cause those old 8-bit consoles did not have ...

Heliosending - Quantum Leap Year (Original Mix) (Brostep)

Hello everyone. First post. Hope I make a good impression.

I finished this a couple of days ago. Posted it to SC but can't really get people to listen to it. I'm still new to this, I guess I need to find more followers and follow more people myself? Anyway, I thought I'd try a dedicated forum.

It ...
