Scratchy Bass Growls
Anybody know exactly how to get these "scratched" bass sounds at the beginning of this set? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Sonic Academy Kick a go-to for snares?
Technically, you could get creative and use anything for a snare. You could definitely use it as the bottom layer of snare, yes. I'd pitch it up an octave and place a high cut on it, though. Just my recommendation. I've done it a couple of times, and it sounds aight. I know Skrillex does it from ...

@AxeD, nah... it's just so bad that nobody actually cares to comment on it :/
@Webstarr, the room's not acoustically treated, if that's what you're asking. So I'm sure that sound waves are bouncing all over the place. I'm actually moving here in a few weeks, and I definitely have plans to treat ...

Re: how to turn a simple melody into a wooble like effect.
Try setting up a 3rd Party LFO generator on a return track, and then try routing all of your channels through this return track and into the master. This is probably how I'd try to approach it.

Re: NI Massive sine wave panning.
If you're routing it through a dimension expander, then go into you OSC tab and activate the button that says "Restart via Gate". After that, you can set the oscillator's to phase properties to any you'd like. Also, try pulling the dimension expander dow a little bit. Or... you could also try to ...

Troubleshooting Harmor in Live 8
Anybody else having a difficult time getting the vst standalone of Harmor to actually work in Ableton? Standalone pulls up, but the image mapping is all screwy. IL Edison also likes to crash my working projects whenever I hit the record button. Anybody have a solution? Or is every other Abletoneer ...

Well, if you'd like me to... I'd be more than willing to remix your track Majai. Got a couple of peeps out here in San Diego that would totally spin it on the circuit too. Shoot me a message if you're down!

Re: FM from the ground up using fm8
Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool. He doesn't really drop too much insight into actual FM synthesis, but if you watch his "How to Bass" series as a whole, he gives you a lot of really cool pointers on how to make some pretty ratchet sounds. Too bad Ableton's vocoder isn't as cool as IL's Vocodex ...

His stuff's usually pretty decent. Gonna give it a look. Btw, anybody have any suggested reading material that pertains to FM synthesis? Looking for a in-depth PDF or something I might be able to read whilst at work :p
