New DAW and Drum VSTi got their in the end... Bit of an extreme solution to an issue with drums though, isn't it? Getting a new DAW and Drum VST just to resolve this issue seems like a bit of overkill. I think he means since he's using a new daw/vst he was having issues :) Not the first blonde mome...

They even have a low end preset for compresion, just tweak it, listen and learn

After losing my Mac set up, and due to the fact i'm skint, this is mine. Tbh your post makes no sense... by double bass kicker do you just mean the drum rolls/builds? If so, find a punchy kick sample and pretty much remove all but the transient of the drum - this'll give you a punch but will ensure when you create a drum roll/build that it doesn't get messy. I'm sure if you produce you have single shot samples of various drums, so go to

http://www.looperman.com download a drum roll stretch it to twice the size in audacity or whatever, listen carefully with headphones and try and recreate it, not the easiest way but a good way of learning...

I would avoid using Vengeance sample packs, everyone knows where you got it from, because everyone owns it.
