Wicked night. Couldn't believe it when there was a huge queue after an an hour or so! I liked mass (as opposed to 3rd base) although it did take a bit of time for the atmosphere to return....... just as well youngsta was on the decks to cause some mayhem! Thought vex'd were disgusting, some filthy b...

henry, You will need a couple of different pieces of software. A sequencer and an audio editor (although cubase/pro tools act as both). If you're going to be getting sounds as well then you will need some kind of soft synth (you automatically get a couple with reason). People create stuff in differe...

ha ha yeah well up for adding my cornet wizardry. Maybe some freeform jazz over the top...or some brass band arrangement??? I haven't seen Laibach...would be interested. Got to say that electronic music can translate well to the stage. Lo Fidelity Allstars were incredible at the Reading Alleycat yea...

Got to say I disagree with you Andy. I think the live performance is on the way out with visuals being the future. Anyone with a PC or Mac can create videos these days and as long as it's done well would give a far better visual emphasis than some sweaty blokes on a stage! As for the improvised elem...

Cheers for bringing this to our attention Luke. I will add a couple of sounds/adverts to mine this evening. Some good points about the audio. I think it is slightly worse than recording off the radio as there isn't any presenter chat or static. As for people putting stuff on soulseek it's out of ord...

Doing dubstep full-time
Hey, How many dubstep DJs/Producers work full time for the cause? I know that Kode9 (like me) is a music tech lecturer but am curious as to whether people are getting a living out of the scene. Drum and Bass seems t be a full time profession (at least for the John B's and Frictions) with tracks gett...

I don't use a synth. just generate tones in cool edit and then get to work on eq, filtering, distorting, pitch bending etc.... I doubt it makes much difference as both ways are just using an oscillator tone and adding effects. As for EQing etc... depens on the sound but a nice dynamic EQ can give so...

i wouldnt let people download your tune at any bitrate, they might get bored of it before its available  What are you saying Luke?! Ha Ha they are timeless classics don't you know!!!! Cheers for your thoughts. Definatly the right idea to not have them on download i reckon. As they become outda...

Using myspace for promotion
I've just set up a myspace music site and uploaded three tracks to it. It gave me an option to let people download the tracks. Do people reckon you should be allowing your newest music to be downloaded like this? I've encoded at 64kbps so the quality isn't high but they sound okay. Obviously I want ...
