I thought it was pretty good and most of your thoughts echoed my own.

Which was nice.

sorry... to add to the thread: i read bits and pieces of future music, computer music at the store but dont bother buying them because they are generally filled with tutorials for programs that i dont have and could never afford Hmmm. They actually make an effort to cater for all pieces of software...

Production wise:

Computer Music is good for beginner/intermediate with a clear emphasis on dance music.

Future Music is their sister mag and is more advanced, wide reaching and IMO infinitely better.

Sound on Sound comes from a more engineering based angle but is great too.

All production forums turn gash.

Gets full of a) noobs repeating same old question and b) idiots using as many complicated words in a sentence as they possibly can to give the illusion of knowledge.

When he said 'dancing round the fire type' stuff, he surely meant the kind of tribal stuff you can imagine tribal people dancing round the fire to. In no way was he presuming that Africans spend all their time dancing round fires.

Nothing wrong with that. Much ado about nothing.

Those masks!!!!!

Fucking hell, they freaked me out when I first saw them during Monolake. Best set of the weekend for me that one. Shackleton was dope as well, as were Stott and Claro Intelecto, JUAN (!!!), Sleep Archive, Skull Disco lot....

Great weekend, if a little gritty.

Ultrabeat rules.

The kick sounds are so solid and the amount of tweaking you can do to every sound is crazy.

For me, the joy is in crafting a tune over time, not in banging out concepts. But each to their own I guess. There are pros and cons to both methods.

Fucking hell? Some people saying 20 tracks a week? Even 5 seems quite a lot.

Do none of you have jobs?!!

I generally only ever have 1 or 2 on the go but my approach to making tunes is extremely slow and obsessive.

It needs to change.

Cool thread man. I often ask myself some of those questions, notably: "What exactly are you contributing here?" It gets me down all the time. I think this forum is full of shit too. Nobody really knows what's right or wrong because there is no right or wrong. To be remembered would be nice...

I use the Logic ones. I think unless you're putting shit out then there's no point. Future Music did a great feature in which they took a tune and mastered it with the Logic Plugs, a mid-range set of plugs and then the Waves Plugs. They said the difference was definitely noticeable. Maybe it was Com...

There is no way I'm going anywhere near a big Ammunition night like this for some time. Even if you get there early you will queue for over an hour. If you get there on time you'll be looking at 2+. Late and you won't get in. That's what happend at the last End gig and the same again at the infamous...
