There is often threads on here focusing on the negatives of ***step becoming formulaic....(everything is dubby, everything is halfstep, everything is wobble)...etc..... Of course we can all observe trends and the reasons for this are quite obvious (and well debated!)...

So interesting to see ...

The Nu-Dubstep title was tongue in cheek. More referring to the indie crossover stuff than the new wave of diverse and talented producers.

So what if more and more are picking up on the sound? alot of people seem to be uptight at the fact that dubstep isnt some cosy little thing they can hide from ...

Pete, I think that you have made a key point that all scenes have one label with a monopoly...

DUbstep is infiltrating indie clubs but it is not ALL dubstep it is just one sound. The diversity is getting lost under one tag.

EXACTLY. New sounds are emerging. Exciting cross pollinations of sounds from all over. It is an exciting time and if you use the continuim idea then yes we are entering into a new stage with lots and lots of new sounds ...

Artists and crews are battering the outsider radio station with new dubs without a quarter of the recognition of the Rinse crew.

I said that loads of people are creating diverse stuff but it is swamped by expectation of what dubstep SHOULD sound like by a misinformed public which is growing due to the crossover appeal of a section of the sound.

The sound is now crossing over. I've just read the Rusko and Caspa article in the metro and it highlights the new trends in dubstep's commercial sound.

The Klaxon's turning up to FWD along with a host of Nu-Rave kids...
