I've noticed that some garage songs have a whirling pad in the beginning, and I was wondering how I could make one.
Examples are here
I have Reason 4 and Native Instruments Massive, and the Arturia V Collection.

Re: What good microphone can I get on a budget?
Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that different microphones emphasised the tonality of different frequences, so different microphones are good for different things.

Re: What good microphone can I get on a budget?
Don't always want clarity. Clarity is not the paragon achievement of a mic. True - but I have found that it is easier to muddy-up a clear sound as desired rather than clean up a dirty one. Can somebody explain to me what is meant by what Mad EP and Nowysj said? It's easier to muddy up (add noise), ...

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
1:24 what is this bass? it sounds almost like an 808 but an 808 does not lat that long.. an 808 hit into a sine? It sounds like someone got a 808 kick, slowed it down slightly , as I remember the actual kick part of the 808 to be shorter than what I heard. Then it sounds like the looping marker sec...

What good microphone can I get on a budget?
My £18 Philips microphone distorts my voice, and is a shambles for any serious recording. Do you know any good microphones I can buy on a budget? I only brought it because I didn't know anything about microphones.

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Hey, does anyone have any idea how this bass is made? I know it's not dubstep but goes way deep anyway. It sounds very simple but I can't get that fast attack and punchy feel. All of slimmahs bass have this kind of punchy bass without any audible midrange, although they sometimes got this phased pl...

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
Rynsa Man is a grime producer from Birmingham, but some of his music is bordering, or is dubstep. Alongside Skream, Digital Mystiks, and Sukh Knight, he has many of the the best dutty dubstep bass sounds I've heard. I've nearly finished a song, and all it needs is a low gritty bass sound, and I can'...

Re: how to you make a 2-step drum pattern
Some people don't know what hip hop is, so this is one of those flashback public service announcements Hip hop beats are done at a slow tempo below 100bpm typically, and the highest I've seen it go is 110bpm. You can call grime, the version of rap music for teenagers with low attention spans, who l...

Re: how to you make a 2-step drum pattern
I was in a music studio and this boy who made a really good grime beat at 140bpm, he slowed it down when it was done, and it instantly became a hip hop beat.
It was amazing to hear the genre change as the tempo slid up and down.

Re: how to you make a 2-step drum pattern
Sometimes the s is the same exact hihat as 2 , but instead they use an equaliser to make it sound less sharp and striking, and they might alter the pitch to be slightly lower. Or they use a similiar sounding snare sound. You could mistake as the producer only using 2 , as 2 and s , sound so similar.

Re: how to you make a 2-step drum pattern
I've been stuck for weeks and now I've figured it out. Play loads of garage tracks from compilations in Quicktime then use Quicktime to slow the track down, and listen carefully to the drums, especially the introduction drums. I like it how they break the 2step drums apart at a break sometimes, or a...

Re: What dubstep vst's should I get?
My advice would be to choose one or two out of that list and learn them. Albino is a good start. FM8 uses a different type of synthesis so you may want to move to that once you have grasped the basics with Albino. Finally, cracks are not cool bro, best not to be posting glaring admissions on public...

Re: What dubstep vst's should I get?
What? There are no dubstep specific plugins? Here's all my vst's apart from the ones default with fl studio and they all don't help me apart from give me a poor variety of sounds. Would they help you? http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1075/picture6ux.png http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/9611/pic...
