I have been chatting with my computer programmer brother off and on about something like this for a couple years, but my idea was more listener-based than DJ-based, as it revolved around a new file type that had alternate versions of each element of any given song.

IE: 4 drum tracks, 4 atmos ...

I have had two macbook pro's lately and both have failed and would have cost more to fix than to get a new laptop. Sticking to Dell's from now on. Better build quality these days and you can get like double the spec of a mac for normally less money. If you really must use OSX, simply hackbook it ...
