you should take in count where your tune will be listened to. people who listen tunes on radio or at home hifi system will not benefit much from that low freq. and because lower freq takes more headroom basically you would want to roll of below 40Hz. i personally roll of bellow 50Hz.

you could try audacity. it's great open source audio editor.

for mp3 extraction you'll also need LAME.

sample movies and other peoples songs. get a mic and record your own.
