Re: Labels and promotion...
it should be written in the contract that you can, once a year, examine your sales, or get an accountant to. if any label says no to putting that in your contract, then walk away. if they say fine, no problem, it's unlikely they'll be fleecing you. although, as alex says, it happens.

Re: label guidelines
to be honest i'm not ever going to put down in a public forum, what i intend to do with my label. if you want to sign with us, get in touch, we have website, blog, myspace, last.fm, spotify, we're in shops etc. if an artist wants to talk to me about where they might fit in with the label, that's one...

Re: Why is Mt. Eden so popular?
i care because I keep getting wasted assholes shoving their cellphones under my nose then getting pushy when I don't play what they want welcome to being a dj. whatever genre, whatever club. also - accessable sounds work well with non-sceneheads and underground music not as big as everyone thought ...

Re: what do you think of this?
ok i have a few mate's that would never upload an unsigned track to there myspace or scloud for reason's like other people can ripped it and other stuff like that.. are they famous? if not, people won't. and if they do, it will be very few. and i've also recently heard some labels don't like to tak...

Re: What else does a distribution company do?
Seems like quite a few distribution companies are not doing P&D. They are happy to give the records to shops but they want to final product. Anyone know of some decent distribution companies I can contact to see what they are doing? for the uk/vinyl/digital/dubstep. try contacting mike lennon a...

Re: What else does a distribution company do?
Whats stopping someone from mastering, pressing their own 12"s and then approaching shops to sell? I would not think it would be hard to get shops to stock stuff tbh. Cutting out the distro would save money. Every time you need to move the records you need to pay for it. factor in fuel, delive...

Re: A New Label Post...
from one new/indie label to another, all the best of luck with it. we need more proper, ethical labels of quality to show the world that it's a serious undertaking, and quality is still important.

Re: Labels and promotion...
sure, you can do all that stuff yourself. if you have a few grand to spare, getting your tunes out to 'names' unless you're well connected will cost upwards of £300 plus vat. that's some sample packs and some hardware you could buy instead. they also spend time building relationships with radio/dist...

Re: Getting in Touch With Labels
hello. can i just say that whilst i HAVE signed someone since hearing them on myspace, it's a better tool for promotion to the public/fans than label a&R, just because it's flakey. Soundcloud is good for a&r, you can hear the whole thing, it's decent quality etc. i personally wouldn't drop c...

Re: Is Breaks dead?
saying you heard it at a party and it was awful is like saying you heard skuba play and dubstep, all of it, is awful tbh fella. it's been battered and bruised by new, other styles of broken beat stuff, but i'm glad to say, as an old breaks head, it's coming back strong, doing what it used to do, tak...

GIANT PUSSY/STRIPPER mix on nsbradio.co.uk
http://www.themidnightfamily.co.uk/mmii/media/mmii-radio-web-flyer.jpg no, not me. Giant Pussy is the rather subtle title of the ghetto - bass laden label of Coburn and Deekline. It's quite filthy. Here's some info on Stripper, from whom we have a guest mix on our show, Sunday 7-9pm (uk time) on ns...
