Re: DSF feedback
yeah, I don't get much feedback but I don't give a shit
feedback comes from the people on the dancefloor
+1. Fuck track comments. Dubstep producers begging for track feedback on soundcloud = 14 year old girls begging for picture comments on Myspace.
Seriously, it's exactly the same thing. 95 ...

Re: what is a track worth?
Dunno about dubstep, but in techno the deal is often a 50/50 split between label and artist after Beatport's fee (can't remember off the top of my head but I think it's around 30%). The top 5 or 10 sell thousands, but a few hundred would be considered pretty good....

Re: HITLER CREATED DUBSTEP
Eh, you can only really get away with being that crass if the final product is actually funny... Someone made a similar video a coupla years ago with subtitles of Hitler complaining that the M_nus tour had been cancelled and he wouldn't get to see Richie Hawtin and Magda live. That was pretty amusing.

Must've walked past this place a hundred times but never been in, will try and make it down, what's the soundsystem like in there?

Re: Opinions on traktor scratch
Mostly comes down to interface and what you need it for. Traktor has a LOT more features (FX, internal mixer options, controller options etc) and you can generally do much more with it, along with everything you can do with Serato (apart from the Ableton link). But if you don't need FX and you only ...

Re: 808 vs SINE?
its not analog voodoo secret black magic. it just is what it is.
i have ZERO clue what the actual difference is..
A sine wave is a sine wave. Other than frequency, phase, amplitude and noise I guess, and how these change over time, there are no differences between two sines. These are all easily ...

Re: Deep, dark dubstep
Shed's new stuff as Panamax Project is pretty deep. T++, F, Headhunter, Ramadanman all still making pretty subby tings. There's loads of it around. TBH it's the only side of dubstep I really listen to; more than about 3 bitcrushed wobblefests in a row and I get bored pretty quick...

Most of that stuff is pretty loopy too, though, to be fair. The trouble with the loopy stuff from the late 90s is that all of the LOOPS themselves started sounding the same. It was all just CHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshukaCHUGAshuka ...

"nobody plays dubstep to put the crowd into a trance? on the contrary i think dubstep really lends itself to altered states, w/ or w/o artificial stimuli. ive spent a lot of time in basements just purifyin, crowd's 50-60 strong, christmas lights on the walls all dimmed from the smoke.. sometimes i ...

Re: 808 vs SINE?
In theory it's just a sine, but in practice it's gone through analogue circuitry before being sampled so there may be a small amount of noise and distortion in there. The difference due to noise and distortion is probably inaudible unless the 808 was going through equipment actually *designed* to ...

Still no cameras allowed in Berghain so good luck with that.
The club has gone downhill, but more in the atmosphere than the bookings - apart from the odd dodgy label night the music is still generally top notch. But the place is *definitely* nothing like it was the first time I went a few years ...

Re: Techno
I'm glad there's a conscensus that techno was better in the 90s and it's not just me getting old and unable to apreciate the new stuff. Would you guys count Andy Stott/ the Claro Ittalecto warehouse stuff as techno, that's prety good. The Shed album has it's moments too.
