Yeah. I remember that pretty early on they played urban hero by jameson and a lot of kids screamed and shit. I couldn't tell if they really knew the track or if they are just trying to party.. was so thrown off by how young everybody was as well. I guess villa has the whole bassline connect, but ...

Was blown away the first time I heard it. But it's strange how extremely different "bleep soul" sounds on different speakers/headphones. The first time I heard it with different headphones, I almost didn't even recognise the track.

It's not just people being rowdy that they turn away though, me and 2 mates went there in the summer only to be given a shake of the head as if to say we weren't cool enough or whatever to get in - nothing rowdy about us at all. It was fucking annoying cos we'd all been looking forward to check ...

I think somebody mentioned that they are a bit more relaxed about that on the substance nights. I wouldn't say that they handle those things badly on the other days either. The place can get extremely packed, they have to turn some people away every now and then.. well and with some people you can ...

Seen him play live at Berghain in December. Mindblowing set. If I remember correctly it was mostly completely new tunes. It was pretty cool that they obviously still sounded like him, but in some way were also kind of unexpectedly different. He should really release that stuff.

are all those samples and instruments that you can buy extra from them any good? (like the essential instrument collection 2). i'm just starting out to produce and sometimes wonder if it would maybe be easier to use something like that, instead of using random samples off the internet and tweaking ...

abZ, I'm also rarely using the session view. In my made up example I meant the arrangement view. Kinda hard to describe, maybe a screenshot is a good idea:

Thanks for all the replies. There definitely seem to be some advantages with using drum racks. I'm curious though. How do you organise your tracks then? Since everything shares the same midi-clip, isn't it annoying sometimes? For example if you have following midi clips like this in the sequencer ...

What instrument do you use in ableton for drums?

Drum rack, impulse or something else? Just started out producing and have a hard time figuring out whats best to use. Drum rack at first glance looks like the right one, but I wonder if it will get annoying that all different types of drums share the same midi clip.

pay for sample packs?

I read repeatedly how essential it is that you've got good samples and that it's pretty much impossible to create any good track with bad ones. I know that there are tons of links to sample packs on this forum. But I'm just starting out to produce, therefor definitely don't really have the ...

I'm completely new to production, so I apologise in advance if I'm making no sense at all.

I understand that when different things share the same frequencies the sound gets muddy, however sometimes thats unavoidable, no? Even if I low-cut my kick and high-pass my snare, they would probably still ...
