You'd be best off buying a second hand intel iMac, they are pretty cheap now but still very powerful and they run windows better than most PCs.

Try plugging a CD player directly into the amp. That will tell ya whether it's the mixer or the amp.

EQ - Generally it is always better to cut than boost. If you want a more bassy sound, cut some of the high and turn the track up a little.
