Resample some chords with single squarewave or sawtooth oscillator.

Add portamento, chorus and ADSR to your taste and its pretty close to the synths kode9, deadboy, etc are using..

I've always preferred writing drums in the piano roll. It's exactly the same as a step sequencer if you loop 2 bars in the sequencer and have your samples in a drum machine. But you get more instant control over what your doing. To each their own though.

Try using the playlist + samples for drums ...
