Re: Mixer Signal Flow

So when you say "cut the original audio and let the recording play on the KP3" you mean you have sampled something onto the KP3 correct?
Correct.

My recommendation would be not to use the dedicated return channel to pass the audio out of the KP3 and into the mixer, use one of the stereo channels ...

Mixer Signal Flow

I recently got a mixer, an Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX, and I'm a little confused as to how the signal is routed. I've been using Ableton for years so I'm used to just hitting a drop-down and selecting where I want the signal to go.

I'm using a Kaoss Pad as a send effect, but when I record a track ...

The Key25 looks really useful. Could be good for making things a little bit more "live" without having to invest in multiple controllers.

Says a lot if you can get Plaid to do the music for your Kickstarter video.

Re: Quick ? about vinyl

Well double the frequency is an octave higher. You're increasing the frequency by (45/33)x100=36% (approx.), so that's just over a third of an octave higher or a bit more than four semitones. To get to five semitones you'd need to go to about 33+(5/12)*33=46.75rpm.

That's not quite how it works ...

That thing looks really nice! Hoping to finish off my own Shruthi this weekend. It's my first build after threatening it for a long time but I'm already getting ideas for the next DIY toy!

Re: Gear lust

Also, double checked, for the record you can buy new KP3s still...they have them listend on Sweetwater
I reckon I could pick up a KP3 for a reasonable price second hand. Maybe I should just take the plunge and sell stuff on if I don't like it. It's the live-looping possibilities that I really like ...

Re: Gear lust

I want to use something like a Korg Kaoss Pad 3+ but I realise those things are pretty old at this stage. Any suggestions on a more modern alternative? I want to be able to loop, apply effects etc.

Why not just get a Kaoss pad...can't see the age being a factor if it does what you want it to ...

Re: Gear lust

Gents, I need an opinion on something.

My Shruthi-1 is almost finished and I want to take my music making in a different direction. I want to go out of the box, i.e. no laptop. Low cost. Midi keys, into the Shruthi-1, an Akai MPX8 for oneshots/loops/ambience, maybe a Volca beats. Maybe upgrade to ...

Re: How many of yall are trying to create a different genre

I think I know where I'm going with it, but that goal sound is a mix of things. Just trying to make stuff I want to hear really. I know genre labels have their uses but I think there's too much of a danger of limiting the creativity, just making stuff that sounds like all the rest...

Re: [Interview] FourTet - Breaking Out Of The Cycle

I travel so much that it has become normal for me to work on planes. I sit with the laptop, headphones, Ableton Live and I write melodies or program drums.
Imagine getting on a plane and FourTet is sitting beside you with Ableton open. :o
