Re: [BRIGHTON] //9th OCT// SUPERDUBPRESSURE // SKREAM + BENGA

Ah yes, it was indeed a huge night. Both Benga and Skream absolutely fucking rinsed the place out and the crowd was nuts. Quality soundsystem, quality beats and a crowd jammed with gorgeous women. What more can a 38 year old married man ask for?

I'm lucky enough to be catching Adrian Sherwood with Dub Syndicate here in Edinburgh on Monday 10th August during the Fringe Festival. I LOVE Sherwood to bits.

You lucky bastard - I saw him in Brighton last month with Tony Thorpe. Head Charge, Benga, Dusk and Blackdown and Jazz Steppa. He's an all ...

For me 'Super Sharp Shooter' the Ganja Kru / DJ Zinc classic always does it. I remember hearing it in a club for the first time at the Ninja Tune night in the Blue Note in Hoxton and it went off like crazy. They teased and teased the intro (The S, the U, the P, the E, the R) for ages before finally ...

Mmmm - a real beauty this one. Black Eye Boy is one of the finest dub tunes ever - including the 70s business.

This may have got my No.1 my vote - but 'Blue Lines' holds too many memories - just about all of them good!

Best Dancehall DJ

I'm currently riding Cutty Ranks at full volume and wonder if this man has been, or ever will be, beaten for raw roughneck delivery, rude riddim and rasping lyrics. Maybe Reggie Stepper came close?

What other Dancehall do you all recommend?

Tonight I'm not in a Rocksteady mood. Just scored 'Dancehall Reggae Meets Rap in NYC' on Soul Jazz. Awesome 2 disc set of rude rhytmns that brought back some very fond memories - especially rinsing Shinehead at 3am in my student halls and gettinG BOLLOCKED!

Well since you're in the Other Music forum....

Grindcore, death metal, punk.

There's an awesome flash game called Zombie Grinder with an extreme metal soundtrack. Awesome.

NICE - one of my all time faves. Saw 'em in 89 but they'd lost it - still a good show.

You read 'American Hardcore' by Blush?

And by the way, I'm nodding myself off to sleep to the Trojan Rocksteady Box Set. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Great night - the Heads High mix still ringing in my ears. Thought Rodders started well with furious rudeboy selection in to raging dancehall. Reckon he tried to cover too much in one 2 hour set though - no need for any Marley really! Ended well - An England Story Rodigan Style and furious drum and ...

Copywright

One for the trainnspotters!

In about 1992/93 my (then) flatmate had a superb album by a 'band' called Copywright. They wrote their name with the symbol - a C in a circle.

The music was slow and dubby with lush female vocals - a bit like Portishead or Massive Attack. I have a feeling Jah Wobble ...
