Liked it up until the bass kicked in. The bass kinda masks the rest of the tune which is a shame cause there are some interesting ideas in there.

Yeah - I'm a bit dubious about the bass... I have the issue of having to mix my tracks through a pair of shoddy (and I mean SHODDY!) old speakers - so ...
