Removing crackle at end of chopped samples
Afternoon folk, was hoping someone could be kind enough to give me some advice on sampling.
I've chopped up a classical tune into dozens of pieces to sample for a dubstep tune and am having problems with a select few. No matter where I drag the end bar for these, there is the slight crackle sound ...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for APRIL, 2010
Zone Trooper - Got to Get: You need to adjust your mixing levels, the distorted synth that kicks in on the chorus can barely be heard as its drowned out by your main synth - it just sounds very muddy. And the main synth itself needs to be changed as you have the same melody going on every 2 bars for ...

Re: Advanced Bass Techniques
why is everyone so obsessed with layering tons of parts and using tons of fx plugs?? why not just get a sound that you're happy with from the beginning? this attitude of more more more just complicates things

Re: What Sub 4 Dub???
I have no clue about car sound systems, but you definitely should take a leaf out of this man's book:

Put some proper sub-bass tunes on and you'll get yourself a few horse-power too. A win-win situation by all means.

Re: how necessary is an audio interface for production or dj
It's not absolutely necessary, but it makes your production life easier. Hardware wise, I've only got a 2-octave midi keyboard, but having it has made writing melodies/chords and placing samples in so much easier and quicker. Start off with a midi-keyboard and see if it helps.

Re: Question on bpm, keys and beatmatching
Pretty much every tune will follow this general structure:
Intro
Chorus
Verse
Break
2nd Chorus
2nd Verse
Outro
These sections will usually be multiples of 16 bars. Use this as a template for the example: 16 bar intro, 32 bar chorus, 32 bar verse, 16 bar break, 32 bar chorus, 32 bar verse, 16 bar ...

Re: Plagiarism in electronic music
You're right about that. He was suggesting with the Casio example at the end that if you buy something, then you own it wholly. So if I buy a Timbaland tune then I own the right to use the tune to my liking?
Also he was suggesting that if you are ignorant as to who made the tune you sampled from ...

Re: good movies old and new to sample bits from?
I haven't tried sampling old school ones actually as all my sci-fi films in my collection are 1980s+ and most of the the films that I sample are from the last 10 years.kp mike wrote:60s sci fi? or modern?morigami wrote:Sci-fi films are gold dust for sampling, even the DVD intro menus can provide great atmosphere/fx.

Re: XBox 360 or PS3
Nah telly isn't HD it's the three coloured plug thingies into the adaptor for scart.
Yeah but check the other end, i.e the end going into the XBox, and make sure it's not switched to HD (if the lead's like that).
That's what took me a good hour to figure out when I got my xbox. Always best ...

Police Sirens
Out of interest what is the rough frequency of police sirens? I've noticed the last few days when producing quite loudly that all of a sudden I think someone is shouting and complaining about my music (they still could be...) so I turn it down and find its a police siren. It's amazing how it somehow ...

Re: Turntable lost its counterweight... help
Jesus I was stoned last night, it's turns out it is actually 15mm. I read my crappy measuring tape wrong  Not that it does you any good if it's 9mm. One solution could be to wrap a lot of of duct-tape around it until you get a 15mm diameter. It would look a bit messy, but at least it would ...

Apologies, I didn't even think to measure my Technic counterweights. It's 20mm diameter.
