"Too Genius for my Gear"

Anyone else here INSIST that computers secretly conspire to fuck up and crash when our pieces start getting really genius? Like we have to take all these backdoors (resampling, track freezing) to not hurt its poor little ego with our brilliance, cos the second we rock we start to hear ...

Re: the Black Metal appreciation thread

Thx guys. Yeh, I like Darkthrone better than Necrophagist as well, and picked the latter more or less because I like their guitar production and they have so many "stealable" moments in songs. I think Death Metal musical approach works better for Dubstep since the breakdown is easily translated ...

Re: the Black Metal appreciation thread

How ironic I find this thread today. I just experimented with some Two Step blastbeats, as well as using Darkthrone and Necrophagist samples in dubstep. I didn't finish the songs but I got two "sketches" done just so I had the idea in my head "on paper." That's why u may recognize the normal dubstep ...

Shpongle vs Emalkay Wen I Look @ U Mashup (Soundcloud)

Mashed these up live in a PC DJing program, mastered it a little in ableton before 320izing it. If feedback's good I may work on a more technical higher res version. Mite be good as it is, though!

At The Gates

Converge topic made me think of them by association...any big ups for At The Gates?

Loving their early dark atmospheric DM as well as Slaughter of the Soul. Former more than latter usually, though my preference changes with mood.

Early 1990 (Love it when old school DM uses those eerie synths ...

Re: Converge

Converge is one of, if not the only band from the nu-skool hardcore/grindcore/core generation I actually LIKE! Otherwise most of those bands are just emos ripping of At The Gates...sorry to say, lol.

Re: CRUNK TESLA: "Dubstep was invented in the USA"

Before I heard dubstep I was living on the West Coast in LA, :R: blazing away to dutty grime beats, Kuduro, DJ Screw, Crunk, old jungle, as well as all that other stuff he listed....and yes, those genres primed me for getting into dubstep.

I still think his argument's retarded.

Yes...Dubstep no ...

Re: DSF Event Febuary 2010...

It's not about prosper or profit, it's about what the dubstep forum deserves as a representation, and tbh, more people, *forum members* have had complaints and requests for it to be in london...so if it's for the forum...then so be it. If I was doing this in America, why would I throw it in Boston ...

Re: DSF Event Febuary 2010...

Nah Nitz by Big Artists I mean, maybe someone like Reso/Skream/Benga/Emelkay is a headliner and then under them someone like The Joker or The Widdler.

Of course there's the part where someone has to contact their agent (most of them are w/ Surefire Agency) and discuss the booking. The 2g alone ...

Re: my name is mud

I feel that for dance music, hardcore music provides a better influence. Lots of Bar 9 songs are hXc riffs but with triplet-hi-hat dubstep drumming...

Most dancers have no idea what's going on when there's blastbeats.

What I got out of being in metal was the ability to write very twisted riffs and ...

Re: my name is mud

And of course, Steve Cloutier. His work on 'Obscura' by Gorguts is breath taking.

This! I love Gorguts! :e: Tho these days more or less, nostalgically.

I know Claypool's cool but Primus can get repetitive. I have musical ADD so when it comes to fusion/metal bass I'm way more likely to like ...
