Re: question about lfo rate speed and shapes
+1 for the performer Mess about with this. I made the mistake of overlooking it in favour of the more 'traditional' LFO shapes and only did the penny drop recently. Also, what amphibian said, trying to emulate exactly can lead to a lot of frustration! But seriously, the performer is utterly sick in ...

Read the stickies at the top here, download some demo's of DAW's if you can, Google (or whatever search engine you use) every single term you don't understand, get yourself a good book on production... doing a lot of research is unfortunately a bare requirement for making tunes, there is a lot to le...

Re: Logic Bass Patches?
Definitely miss Cubase's editing functions since I made the switch mind, for audio it is utter sickness.
I much prefer Logic's 'environment' and plugs though. If Apple get audio editing on par with Cubase in the next iteration of Logic, then it will be all conquering.

Re: percussive subbass synthesizer vst
The 808 is a synth itself though! Any sound coming out of one of those can technically be made in any synth really. As Deadly said, a sine with pitch/amp envelope adjustment will glean the same result, you don't technically need something like Papens Suboombass (though I do rate his plugs, and still...

Absynth is awesome for pads, but the interface makes me want to stab my eyes. I will sit down and learn it if it kills me though.

Re: Cubase question, I'm fed up.
Yeah I have a crappy pair of Sennheisers I use for when the missus and kids are in bed... Probably worth pointing out though, that although those only cost me £20 odd, they are tantamount to fucking useless. Unless you go large on a pair of quality headphones, you aren't going to get anywhere near a...

Re: Phaeleh drums
Yeah, really feeling Phaeleh's percussion, such a delicate sound. Really interested to know how he achieves it, I'm no expert but I would imagine very clever use of EQ and filtering, plus just a good choice of sample to begin with, but his drums do have a beautiful groove to them as well.

Bounce in place is so sick, great feature. Didn't know about 'take folders' though, top tip, thanks! Getting some good Logic knowledge on here of late, great for those who have just moved onto it like me. Nice tip. also look at the right click 'Convert to new instrument track'. now the audio is in i...

Re: What is wrong with my Sub Bass?
In Logic, the EXS24 sampler when you fire it up without a sample loaded is just pure sine, and perfect for sub. Sub is literally for low, low freq's you are meant to feel it more than hear it (human hearing loses it around 30hz I think) to fill out the bottom end. I was actually working on a rolling...

And yes, it is definitely the sex. and the big box it comes in with all the synth manuals makes you feel like a uber sound lord from planet gheek Yes yes! Logics box was so compact it was like a compilation CD, and slightly anticlimactic as a result. I had to remove the front room window to get Kom...

Synthetic sounds
I have a question about the kind of drum sounds used by Bop, Consequence etc… very synthetic sounding drum hits and incidentals. I imagine a lot of these are made within synths themselves (is there a decent resource about how to go about creating your own hits? Mine always sound either really samey ...

Re: "Heavy" or "Deep dubstep"
To get back to the main point of this thread, I would say it depends on the producer/musician themselves. I myself find it easier to produce the more chilled out dark side of dubstep than the jump up heavy side of the dubstep. I can make the basslines for the heavy stuff I just can't seem to make i...

That's because dubstep is going the same way as drum n' bass... :? Chill Deadly, you know most kids who just got some warez and want to be the next Funtcase soon disappear after they A: get shot down in flames on DSF or B: realise there maybe some work involved in making tunes. Those who don't immed...

Re: Is there a way?
Dunno if it is worth mentioning or if it is any help but if you want to route filter 1 into filter 2, you may want to make sure all oscillators are going into filter 1 as well... also don't forget the mix fader on the right hand side to control how much of the signal is passed through each filter.

but, didn't I layer too much? I mean, I know there isn't a *right* way to do this, but still... You kinda answered your own question there bro... There is no set or right way to do it. It could be two samples, it could be six. What I do is literally go through a load of snare samples and pluck out ...
