not really, in fact id say they get a whole lot less treatment than anyone else in the scenes drums. most of the time i dont eq my drums at all, and if there is any compression on them at all it will be minimal. my drum tracks usually consist of 2 kcik drums (usually with one thats a bit "clicky" and one thats a bit "thuddy") and between 2-4 snares multilayered.Johnny Beat wrote:I love your drums, any special treatment they undergo?
eeek my favourite of mine, thats a tough one really, as my favourite usually means whatever ones newest and i aint got sick of yet. at the moment its probably a tune i done called "so beatnik" which is one of very few of my own tunes ive ever put on my mp3 player. and the beats and bass to puking over are my own but the main horn riff is sampledbandshell wrote:whats your favourite tune you've done?
and did you write all of puking over or is it sampled?
how long is a piece of string? lol. i dunno it varies, some can be done in a few hours, some take weeks. generally if something aint finished within 2 weeks tho it wont get finished at allJohnny Beat wrote:How long does it take you to finish a tune actually? Fully?

i dunno bout that one, i sent it off to lykke li to see if she wants it on the official tip but aint heard nothin back, will try again and if not will bootleg it cos it seems to be gettin a big responce. as for targets i dont bother. if you give urself something to aim for your giving yourself the opportunity to miss something. i jus do my thing if it gets finished it does if it dont it dont, it seems to be like a natural selection process that makes sure only the ones that are worth finishin get finishedbandshell wrote:is "a little bit" gonna be released anytime? cheeky white label maybe?
do you have targets with tunes? e.g set time to make a tune etc or decide you'll sit down and do a whole tune or do you just do it whenever?
90% of my bass is done with malstrom, the other 10 with either subtractor or wav files of things i exported from predator or massive. for synths i usually use thor, or wav files out of refillsfuzz_2k wrote:yoyo,
firstly, big ups stenchman. your tunes always sound huge!
wondering what synthesizers you use in your tunes?!?
massive? albino? or any of your favourite vst instruments??![]()
cheers
yea man i noticed that, i dont mind really, keeps ppl on their toes hahaha. puking over has jus gone off for mastering and that, should be out in shops in the next few weeksSuperslim wrote:Yes yes!
Big ups to your Stenchness! Couple of things; any idea on a date if at all for the release of Puking over?
and secondly on my copy of Beat the banker/masterblaster, the labels are on the wrong sides! has caused some confusion in the past!
All big tunes tho man, much respect!
dont take it too serious, think of it as fun times. when u get too wrapped up in it i think you start to lose a bit of the love and that comes across in the music. always try and make every element in ur music listenable on its own, another weird one, sometimes i find it helps to have a bit of distraction at times. it helps if you actually concentrate on something else because then the producing sort of flows naturally and you go onto autopilot with it, i find it best when its my subconscious making the tunes and not me actually racking my brains thinking "what do i do next" keep yourself stocked well with refreshments. above all else make the music that really pleases you. dont make something thinking "ooh such and such will play this if i put this bit in" it sounds selfish but i dunno, we are all are own standard for musical taste, we should listen to thatAltered State wrote:Whats a tip you can give to producers that you think is really important/helped you loads/fundamental but often looked over?
my 1st dubstep tune i got signed was red from xs asking me to do a dubstep tune, which was what the future holds, so pretty luckily i got the 1st tune i ever made signed straight away, and played by n type and a few others. i had released a few dnb tunes under the name henchman tho beforehand and it took me bout 2 years to get my 1st release in that.zillion wrote:How did you get your first tune signed?
How long were you making tunes before you got your first release or got them considered for a release?
