NI in Logic

Post by retinoise » Mon Sep 18, 2006 4:06 pm

Using Absynth and Guitar Rig as stand-alone apps. Absynth works great as a plug-in within Logic. How do I get Guitar Rig to do the same?

Strangely, I couldn't find anything online or in past posts. Thought I'd tap the infinite wisdom that is You Lot.

Cheers for any help or points in the right direction.

As Toxin said, its not an Instrument so if you've installed it properly it should come up in your plugin (Insert) list rather than the Instrument list..

Also depends what version of Logic your running cos ain't there some application you need to convert VST's into Audio Units... Think its call AU wrapper... If your version needs this, I suppose you would have used it for Absynth though?.. Strange !!

That's correct guys. It's not an instrument, but should be showing up as an AU plug-in. I was hoping someone knew why Logic wasn't recognizing it. I checked to see if it was showing in Garage Band (which is just a Mickey Mouse version of Logic) and sure enough, it's right there where it should be, under Audio Unit Plug-ins.

Anyone know why Logic won't recognize it and it's little brother will?

Does the version you have pass AU validation? You can check by running the AU manager from within Logic:

(It's similar for Pro, but I don't have my XSKey with me right now.)

Thanks willb for the headsup on that sweet little feature. Here's what's going on:

Bastards.

Not only is GR it not passing validation... it's crashing the validator. Logic has disalowed a lot of third party plugs.. and i guess this is one of them.
However!! I overrode the validation.. and it seems to work fine. Though it makes me a bit nervous about using it in a song. Perhaps it's time for a GR upgrade *sigh*
