Detroit Sound

Post by delements » Mon Feb 16, 2009 9:03 pm

Does anyone know how I can create those weird deep detroit techno influenced sounds and strings that you on horsepower productions tracks mainly on in fine style, or are there are any particular sample packs which can be processed to create those sounds ?
Thanks

Saw waves and minor chords. Filter and process to taste.

^^^^^^^

yeah and also use a lot reverb and delay for the space feel.

you can just use a piano and use the cutoff to make it sound deep.

stay up for 3 days dancing to techno. maybe some booze and/or pills depending on your preferences. 6 hours rest. now write how you felt.

w/ that said

minor chords, yes, and envelope-based filtering-- let the filter open via the attack on an envelope. maybe control that envelope w/ an lfo. some 'verb and yr good to go.

Go to youtube.com, listen to LFO - LFO from like 1988 or 1989 something like that. Copy that verbatim, throw some robot synths in there and a breakbeat and definitely some cowbell and you have electro as well.

Great mix. You should check out the Moritz von Oswald Red Bull Academy interview.

Check this mix too, it's awesome:
