Funky?
It's been around for years. It's called House music. You haven't made an innovation. Just sayin.
I like it a lot though, but it's House.

Yes, and there's no Garage scene in the UK.String wrote:think hes jealous theres no funky scene in the us
Anyway... House, Techno, Breaks... hell, even Dub comes from this side of the pond. You did rename it all though, I suppose it's like UK Idol or whatever
Say hello to our good buddy Todd Edwards next time you guys are ripping him off and proclaiming it a new genre gents.

House music is a style of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago, Illinois, USA in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was initially popularized in mid-1980s discothèques catering to the African-American, Latino, and gay communities, first in Chicago, then in New York City and Detroit. It eventually reached Europe before becoming infused in mainstream pop & dance music worldwide.

Ask why Verizon would want to hold their offices inside of one of the premiere clubs in NYC...Funky Stanton wrote:I have a degree in mathematics and it tells me that 1957 comes before the 70's and 80's. Why would anyone go clubbing in a Verizon office anyway? It's all about post war cod trawler raves in international waters. Always has been, always will be. Get to know.

ST - you actually trying to make a point and say that this music is in fact american?
UK Funky is american?
UK Garage is american? - garage may have come from US house and garage but then we turned it into a new sound. From this we developed dubstep. Is dubstep american?
When does one genre become a new genre and split?

I would imagine the day it's not Funky House, Funky Techno, Funky Garage... it will be Funky something else.
"That's a Funky." doesn't have quite the same ring to it, when not followed by a noun, does it?
That's an Ugly Funky.
Is Funky a Genre, or a description, like an adjective or a noun?
Just saying. UK Funky, when no followed by the name of a genre is just some shit that was pulled out of someone's ass who wanted to take credit for innovation. When in fact, it's been done, done better, and already has like 5 names... i.e. House, Garage, Techno, etc.

We all know house comes from Chicago and NYC blah blah blah, great. There's a scene bubbling away in London at the mo and it's great, simple as that. No one is trying to take away Chicago's, New York's, Baltimore's or Detroit's importance as the breeding grounds for some truly innovative musics. There's just a scene in the UK (mostly south) that is identifying itself. Not all of America originated House, or techno or b'more or whatever but those places that did shouted loud cos the sounds were so good, the UK is small and music scenes are infectious, especially ones that make girls dance.
You seem like a reasonably good minded person but you don't half come across as a clipboard wielding trainspotter type sometimes (would a poindexter be the US equivalent ?). Chill out and enjoy the tunes.
