i like mogwai but i like explosions in the sky better

they copied mogwai's sound and then made it their own

if you get the chance to see em live, don't sleep

its funny you mention them, i have just started listening to them. cant say i like explosions *better* but i think they are on par with mogwai for sure. its a different sound so to be fair i dont think i can say one is better than the other. im def getting into it though. its fantastic music for just about any circumstance

i actually heard their music in the background of some car commercial the other day, haha

Speaking of music in adverts. Everybody needs to check The Black Keys.

there's a lot of bands that sorta have that sound

maserati, a silver mt zion, and mono come to mind

one of my favorite bands that was totally influenced by this sound is Isis

they're way more metal but have a totally obvious mogwai influence

"sounding like pelican lying down with mogwai with radiohead and cult of luna poking their nose in to see what the noise is about, this is impressive stuff’ h'apparently.

And a silver Mt zion is basically Godspeed you black emperor :) Right?

I like that niche of music in general. I like Isis as well. Ain't nothing wrong with metal in my book...

big fan of explosions in the sky, my username on this is a nod to them in fact. live they are incredible, so epic. mogwai are up and down for me. but when they are good they're amazing - hunted by a freak I'll never tire of. i could talk about this stuff for hours.

i forgot about pelican

man seeing explosions in the sky live is a phenomenal experience

those dudes look like they're dying on stage they're playing so hard

it wouldn't surprise me if they had bloody fingers after every show

i forgot about pelican too, although i have their stuff as well. they are quite good too.

anyone ever heard zombi? sounds like epic metal movie soundtracks. best way i can describe it.

also, explosions in the sky do the entire soundtrack to this movie Friday Night Lights, which i could take or leave, but it was pleasant listening

You need to also check the earlier stuff from Tortoise, they're great.

Mogwai used to be good, but they really stole their sound from Slint...my fav band of all time (including Beatles and shit)
