not a bad tune, but i'd like to hear some more original flavor going on than jus tryin to make a burial track. after all, *nobody* is gonna out-burial BURIAL, right? but i guess everyone's gotta try at some point. it's a problem when u can fairly easily make the same sounds your favorite producer makes, that's all you wanna do!
heard your 3 tunes on myspace, and i think "All I Do" def. stands out and has an honest vibe to it. it gels together wayyyy more, and seems like your bringing your own energy to the table. the beats are way more subtle, too! (beats on "Need U" don't really groove right). and you're not goin for all the sampling bells and whistles Burial does so well, but others fail to copy.
"All I Do" is simpler, but sounds way better to me. nice one =)

Its fair enough, I reckon I'm always going to get the whole burial thing. As SYNKRO does, even though they are completly different. I've always worked with vocals even before i got into dubstep/garage ...i've always made emotionally atmospheric music.. but i guess Burial cornered that whole market in one incredible album.cHB wrote:not a bad tune, but i'd like to hear some more original flavor going on than jus tryin to make a burial track. after all, *nobody* is gonna out-burial BURIAL, right? but i guess everyone's gotta try at some point. it's a problem when u can fairly easily make the same sounds your favorite producer makes, that's all you wanna do!

I've got 3 songs currently on myspace and this is the only one that sounds like it could (obviously not in the same league) be Burial. Good Love is on some Berlin, minimal house vibe and All I Do is a bit more musical and got picked up by Cymbalism.
I don't know man, i'm just doing me. I'm influenced my Burial the same Im influenced by Synkro, the whole Echodub fam, Radiohead to Ray Lamontagne.

burial in no way has exclusive musical rights to atmosphere, vocals, emotion or melancholy! he just totally blew it wide open with the first album and immediately put the listener in a musical place you couldn't escape. synkro's tunes are dope, i wouldn't call them burial attempts though. totally different pace! more straight ahead groove. it doesn't ebb and flow like burial at all.
i dunno, a vibe is a vibe. i was kinda dissapointed with the "Untrue" LP cuz it sounded like Burial trying to sound like Burial! haha...

...or 2step beats, for that matter.cHB wrote:burial in no way has exclusive musical rights to atmosphere, vocals, emotion or melancholy!
You can't just go around assuming everyone who wants to fuck with this kind of music wants to be Burial. Some people have told me my music is similar to Burial's (which is a flattering, yet frightening comparison), and I think so, too, but that doesn't mean I'm going out of my way to bite his vibe (for one thing, his stuff is a lot more rhythmically intricate, which mine certainly isn't - if I started adding like random sounds and snippets of dialogue, THEN I'd feel like I'm going out of my way to rip him off). I mean, you could assume that all you'd like but it wouldn't make it trv. I've always been a fiend for tasteful, adequately fucked-with vocals, I was heavily into Dilla way before I even knew who the fuck Burial is. I'm just trying to make raw hip-hop (!!! So no skimping on the repetition, unlike Burial) influenced 2step, straight the fuck up. Much like Burial has said that he is all about the beats and that melody is an afterthought for him, I am all about the melodies and beats are an afterthought for me.
