Also Summerstage in Central Park is always phat, with a ton of space, you guys should look into having some shows over there too...
yes, that was my birthday actually. i enjoyed the setup, but kode played a funky set and not much dubstep, so i was a bit let down.
but i mean outside outside. water taxi beach, south street seaport, PS 1, the YARD!!! I had some of my best best best nights last summer at the Yard on sundays - Kevin Saunderson killed it, as did Afrikaa Bambattaa. Outside!
it's everyone's own choice to come or not to come. no one's "pushing out" anyone.perkalerk215 wrote: i have been attending dub war for a good enough amt of yrs at this point now. and i just wanted to add i dont even come out faithfully anymore because of said issues or topics or stuff thats being discussed. im sure im not the only one. you bring in new people, but push out the dedicated supporters. just keep that fresh in mind...the ones who have been coming out for yrs helped get it to where it is now. not the fresh one-off people.
we're doing our best, month-in, month-out. if you want to celebrate good quality music, then come. it's that simple. if not, you're welcome to drink your whine at home.
but i'll be at Dub War.

to touch on a few points:
love is a really fantastic business; us making the decision to move Sub Swara over to another venue was really hard. we absolutely loved (no pun) doing business with them, but we were having serious crowding issues, and the monthly just didn't fit into the plan for 09 and beyond. As a whole they're lovely people who really are all about the music; nyc is really blessed to have it as a venue. Their overhead is insane and the cops want to shut it down all the time; it's a huge labor of love for them and i respect steven and crew immensely for keeping it going.
to me and a bunch of other folks, dubstep is all about moving foward, finding something new, breaking boundaries. That dubwar draws so well and is firmly on the side of breaking new ground as opposed to just treading out what's hot is an inspiration. keep it up boys!
We've been in touch w/ the PS1 and summerstage folks, as well as some other smaller outdoor spots (Franklin park WHAT); will post up developments if/as they grow.
