metal/grind band looking to work with dub step

Post by agermoses » Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:25 am

hey guys. im luke, im in the middle of putting some guys together to start a new band.
although im currently in a metal band. im a big fan of dub step and have been getting more and more into it... soo i decided to mix what i currently do(metal) with my new found love for dub step.

the band is gonna be a grind core band which basically plays the nastyest, heavyest, most underground form of metal.. really fast and pretty similar to death metal... but we want break downs in their which we wanna fill with dub step....

soo here's why im here.. im looking for people or 1 person to get involved who actually makes dub step to send us samples or tracks you have made that we can write songs around. we can do all the mixing with our songs but we would rather use somebodys origonal music than rip off somebodys music thats already out there....

if anyone on here is a d.j or has some tracks they have made which they wouldnt mind letting us use we would be so grateful.
once we get our shit together we will start gigging the metal scene with this new wave of music and would love for whoever helps to come with us and play this stuff on the road.

my current band is www.myspace.com/handofgrief

if your interested reply on here or mail me at agerbeast@googlemail.com

Could work if done right. I'm doing an intro/outro for a hardcore band's next release.

People have attempted combining metal and dubstep before with fairly laughable results

As far as I'm aware Distance isn't a purveyor of 'real' metal though. I think he's into Korn, Fear Factory, more mainstream bands (I could be very wide of the mark) Not that I'm having a dig, he's amazing. But I think it's about time someone with heavier tastes in metal makes Dubstep. It could sound amazing. Scorn is brilliant. But what about the faster end of metal, grindcore, Death Metal, Black Metal? Can it be done?
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

i'd need to hear it first before making a proper judgement, but this sounds like a bad idea. some things just shouldn't mix. a bit like ska and punk.

Surely the speed and nature of that kind of music makes it ridiculous to crossover with dubstep.

Maybe something like Sunn0))) or Khanate might be more apt but thats really unstructured whereas dubstep is usually very structured. Therein lies the reason why I think its a bit of a weird(not in a good way)idea to try and mix the two styles up.

nah think he is into pretty heavy stuff, but i think dubstep and metal only works if u make dubstep with a metal theme if you like. actually trying to mix them into one wouldn't work. the tempo for a start.
