With a Mac you're paying for the integration, ease of use, support that wins awards every year, and hardware that was designed to work with a very nicely laid out interface, etc etc. There's obviously more, but those are a few good points.
I have no issues with windows box's, I have one, but I prefer my Mac's in every way. I also love to be able to work in Logic.
While that is true, my Hackintosh, which is over a year old, has gave me less problems than my brand new (as in a month old) macbook. So, I don't think it's the mac hardware that makes apple's so pimp, it's the operating system. The problems were small and easily solved with the macbook, but they were problems none the less.
I guess I'm sort of contradicting myself by saying this, but my macbook is much thinner, better designed, and they keys/trackpad feel better than any pc laptop I've ever used. But, laptops and desktops have slightly different requirements.
The point is that the operating system, not necessarily the hardware is what make macs so lovely. Sure, a g5 case is pretty, but you can buy a g5 case and put your own shit in it and no one will know the difference. Maybe back in the day apple hardware was superior. If you buy a dell or whatever, mac hardware is superior. However, if you build your machine yourself, I think that is debatable. It's kinda like saying that macs are better for graphics..lol. I work as a graphic/web designer and that is the only reason I ever use windows(that's another topic though).
