MIGHTY MUNGO HIFI

Post by electric eliminator » Sat Sep 30, 2006 11:50 am

Mungos boys kicked off their residency in glasgow school of art last night, and i have to say that in fifteen odd years of going to that place its the first time that sound hasnt been an issue in that huge hall - the system they have built is ridiculous! To put any one who came along to my nights in the picture, its roughly four times the size of the one they brought to
the home dungeon!! Wish id took me camera!
Top Cat smacked it as well, has anyone on here seen him live? What an mc, even when he was doing accappella's he never went off the rhythm.Sweet, sweet vibes, the only thing lacking was having to go out for a chong...bloody smoking laws!
But what does all this have to do with dubstep I hear you ask mr moderator?
Well the boys played about 20 mins of it before Top Cat came on, and barring Mud they were all there own tunes!!! Not bad going when you think that they only heard it first time proper when Mala n Pokes came to town back in june!!!
Watch these boys, serious fire to come from them soon methinks......

Looks like it grav!

I had the motor, so we popped down to catch rhythm&sound at the subbie - what a shame, my bedroom hi fi was louder! ''Infamous body sonic sound system" my eye!!, so it was straight back up to the art school for us..

What you up to tonight? Fancy catching a wee pint at the big slope? Mibbe ask carlo to come along?

St Mungo is the patron saint/founder type dude of glasgow, way back inna day!
Mungo Hi Fi is glasgows longest running and biggest (some would say only but thats not strictly true) reggae sound system.
Any one in glasgow town should also try check their Dub N Grub which has now relocated to the art school on a tuesday night where you can enjoy the finest(really cheap too) ital style vegetarian cooking mixed with reggae/danchall/dubwise beats on mungo sound system. Ill be playing that next month methinks.

Err this feels a bit like the spanish inquisition shanty man but ill try and answer you:D

yes i do promote nights.

i have every DMZ apart from goat stare, i dunno why this is the case, mustve been skint when it came out.

i love skream and bengas music, in fact we had skream up here in the summer there.

i have never been to DMZ in london, i hope to remedy this soon, but its a long way from glasgow, ive been to one in leeds though, at the west indian centre.i liked it a lot.

i never really count how many people come through the door, id say the average would be about 60-80, we now have a mailing list of about 150 peeps, which is probably just about everyone in glasgow who is remotely interested in dubstep.

hope that answers your queries
