Resample it and cut out the click

annoying. I've spent hours trying to kill phantom clicks before.

Synths sometimes click if the attack or release of the amp envelope is set to 0.

If you are running the bline through an fx chain, check each plug in to make sure it isn't clipping.

bit of an obvious one but make sure the main out isnt clipping, also check levels of any mixer / hardware you are using.

thats the one, i use ableton with battery an for some reason big bassy kicks allways click, so i just dump it down to a wav open soundforge an remove the clicks manually. problem sorted, sound forge is a life saver

I remember someone explaing to me exactly why it happens, but I cant remeber what exactly the said which is a bit uselss, but I think its to do with a sudden cut or rise in volume of the wave form or something, so if you were to look at it graphically youd see a straight line drop, which causes a click.

push the attack or release or both up a bit.

For those of you saying to push attack or release - that's not gonna fix it because this click is not at the beginning of the note. If it was, then more attack would fix it.

I think this is a problem with some synths and they do click sometimes. The best way in my opinion is to resample it and manually cut out the click in Soundforge or any other audio editor.
Then reload that sample into a sampler and you have your click free bass and plus you'll save up on some CPU because you're not using the synth anymore.

clicks are oftentimes caused by incomplete wav forms so when you're editing wavs make sure they end on the middle line rather than being cut off somewheres

If it's being played from a soft synth there's a good chance it's being played in stereo.

Sum it to mono and the click will go away

If you're using samples, or are able to see the waveform, make sure you always cut/trim samples at 0 amplitude. With bass, even if the note ends at what looks to be 0 amplitude, there can still be a pop. I use an eq to cut the highs out. Sometimes, this changes the sound of your bass, like if it's anything other than a sine wave, but for 808s and sine waves, this works pretty good. Also, try adding a small fade at the beginning or end of your soundbite. That should get rid of a pop as well.

like said if using samples always edit them so they start and end on crossing zero points..also check there is no dc offset on dem..both can be fixed easy enough in soundforge..

as for synths making clicks/pops..ermm use a better synth??

all synths make clicks if ya use the 'wrong' envelope settings.

What synth are you using?

I had a similar problem a while back. Like Lycaon said, solved by changing the envelope settings. Try turning the "sustain" all the way up on the amp envelope.
