Post by _moody_ » Tue Oct 03, 2006 12:52 am

Where we@? I'm a midwest transplant and new to the area. I'm lookin for peeps interested in the music both as producers and DJ's and even so far as those involved in putting on nights for the music around here or even just fans of the sound.

Could you post more info about element? Whern I say i am new to dubstep, i mean i just started listening last week and fell in love with it. I'm a longtime dub listener and dig DnB. i want to try producing dubstep. Not sure if my current setup will work:

Athlon 4600 dual core based pc system
emu 0404 card
sonar - it's the "le version" that came with the card but surprisingly this version is not that much of a drop from the larger versions, minus the included plugins you get with the producer and studio editions.
Acid pro 6- this version is much better than the previous ones but probably a couple years too late. still great at time stretching
Proteus x le- again.. came with emu card. will play proteus samples.
various VSTI's mostly freeware but looking to invest in a solid commercial VSTi
soundforge 8
Alesis QS6.2 keyboard which is used mostly as a controller
Casio CZ3000 keyboard which is ancient but capable of some sick bass
an old hr16 drum machine and mt8 sequencer. i don't reallu se, but the drum machine is useful for triggering drums.

I know it's the artist and not eh equipment but it does seem a little intimidating when everyone's setup seems so different.

easystreet is getting intersesting.

they got quite a few tempa releases as well as all the planet mu stuff. they have copies of skream/distance-travels. jefferson says he's trying really hard to get more stuff in. he orders through forced exposure so he should be able to get everything they get. plus imports are usually uber cheap there. also have dubstep all stars vol 4 for $14.99. got burial there for $10.99 and they have the new kode9/spaceape cd too. oh, and i found a 2nd copy of distance-cyclops/traffic there for $4 in da bargain bin!

anyway, you guys should go down there and bug em about carrying this shit cause i'm getting tired of spending so much $$$. i'm broke bitches!
